Chapter 48: Chase Shows His Alpha Side

Helina paused in the hallway, Chase looking over her. She'd never seen him so angry. “What?”

“Where were you? You were gone. No note. I ended up going into your apartment, but you weren’t there either. You left your phone so I couldn’t track you.”

She stared up at the man. He was pissed at her. She hadn’t expected him to be awake when she returned. That was a miscalculation on her part.

“Well?” he asked.

“Let’s go inside and we can talk.”

“There better be a good explanation. It was about five minutes away from calling the cops. I had no idea if you were hurt.”

She put a hand on his arm. “I’m sorry, but I’ll explain.”

She wasn’t sorry for putting her plan in motion, but she was sorry for upsetting Chase. She should have known he would wake before she returned. Her apology took some air out of his anger. He pressed his lips together and followed her into his penthouse.

“Did you have breakfast? I can make something,” Helina said.

She headed into the kitchen.
