Chapter 39: Kidnapping

After they’d showered and finally finished their breakfast, Chase gave Helina a look that told her he was getting serious. She knew the look well because he sported it during most negotiations. She braced herself, not having any idea what was coming. “Helina.”

He’d cleared his throat like he did when he had something important to discuss. Was he having second thoughts? Was this all moving too fast? She could put the brakes on especially since she hadn’t told him that she planned on returning to her pack. She’d hoped to revel in the bliss of being with Chase for a little while longer before she shared that with him.

That might not happen. “You sound serious Chase. I know we need to get back to work tomorrow. That’s fine.”

“That’s not what I wanted to talk to you about.”

“Then what?”
