Chapter 27: The Gala

Before Helina left her apartment Harlan had returned. “Wow, Sis. I’d be careful tonight. The human wolves will be sniffing around you, for sure.”

“I’m sure everything will be fine.”

“If Chase has eyes, they are going to bug out,” Harlan said.

They didn’t, but Helina wouldn’t have been surprised if Chase’s tongue fell onto the ground when he saw her. He couldn’t seem to take his gaze off of her. “You look amazing.”

“Thanks,” she said as she pressed the button to call the elevator.

Chase looked pretty good in his tuxedo. She had needed a minute to compose herself after seeing him. Thankfully he had been looking at his phone when she closed her apartment door, so she had had time to school her features before he looked up at her.
