Chapter 24: Chase Changes His Mind

“Helina, wait,” Chase said.

Her heart sank. He was going to change his mind. She turned back to him. “Yes?”

Had he just been toying with her? She had never seen him be cruel like that. He was a fierce negotiator, but he was always fair and never mean. He motioned her back to the table. “There is something I want.”

Helina crossed her arms. “What?”

He laughed. She didn’t understand.

“You look like you’re facing a firing squad.”

“You said that you didn’t want anything and now you do.”

“It’s simple and not anything that you are thinking.”

She was thinking about his bed right now. She shouldn’t be because she’d just been angry thinking he was going to ask for sex with her. She’d been a little disappointed, but not that much. “Then what is it?”

“I have this gala I have to attend and seeing that the last person I escorted to one of these thought we were dating so she broke up with me, I’m in need of someone on my arm. You would be perfect.”
