Chapter 22: Helina's Brother

“Your brother?” Chase asked. “He looks like he went five rounds with a prize fighter.”

“He must have had a good reason. He isn’t a guy who gets in trouble.”

“If he found you could your ex find you?”

Helina puzzled over that for a moment. Unless someone followed Harlan then no. “I doubt it. Harlan has more sources in the city than my ex does.”

Chase studied her then nodded. She hoped that he would believe her, but she didn't know what was the truth. Chase sighs. “What do you want to do? The apartment is your home so it’s your decision.”

“I want to bring him upstairs. You’re welcome to talk to him before I do, Chase. If you need to make sure of your safety.”

“I’m more worried about your safety.”

“Harlan is not a threat.”

Chase’s gaze went back to the monitor, but his frown remained. “I’ll talk to him.”
