Chapter 16: Her First Big Mistake

By the time they reached the hotel, the sun was setting and Helina’s eyes were drooping. She was ready for bed when the sun went down most days. It was part of living in the forest. Sure everyone had lights and electricity, but some part of their wolf nature knew it was time to sleep when it was dark. She’d heard that before they became packs that they slept mostly during the day. Now an individual wolf didn’t have to worry about security. That was the point of a pack.

Helina had noticed that Chase didn’t sleep much. The few times she’d been awake in the middle of the night, he’d also been awake, but looked like he’d been asleep.

They reached the desk.

“Chase Landford. I have the suite. We checked in on the app.”

“Welcome, Mr. Landford.” The woman’s nametag said, Britney. She clicked a few keys and then frowned. “It says you canceled the room.”

“Maybe by accident. I’ll take the suite.”

“There’s a problem,” Britney said.

“I’m sure you can solve it,” Chase said.
