Chapter 12

Damian dropped Melody at Sky restaurant and left shortly after that. Melody watched as the car disappeared into the distance before walking into the restaurant. When the hostess saw her she approached her.

"Welcome ma'am, please how may I serve you today?" the hostess asked with a welcoming smile on her face.

"I am here to meet a friend, can you take me to her". Melody said reciprocating her smile the hostess nodded and asked, "May I ask whom that might be?"

"Diana Frost. She is the one I am here for". Melody replied. "Are you miss Nova?" the hostess asked and Melody nodded. "Okay, please follow me". She said and led Melody to the elevator and pushes the button to the top after the door closed.

Melody looked through the glass door and was impressed at the things she saw. This place stood up to its reputation as one of the top three restaurants in Empire city. She had been to this restaurant before, but now the place was almost unrecognizable due to its renovation.

Getting to the top floor the hostess led Melody to a tinted glass double door and said, "Miss Frost is inside here". She pointed to the door. "Please excuse me". She said bowing slightly before leaving.

Melody pushed open the door and stepped in. She saw Diana sitting on a couch with her attention focused on her phone and walked up to her.

Diana heard the door open and footsteps approaching her and raised her head to see who it was.

Seeing that it was Melody she woke from the couch with a bright smile and open her arms for a bear hug. Melody smiled back at her and hugged her as well.

After some minutes had gone by and Diana showed no interest in breaking the hug but rather squeezing harder Melody found it difficult to lose her grip.

"Diana, don't you think we should sit? You should let go first so we can chat and catch up". Melody said. Diana shook her head "No. The last time I let go, I lost you I won't do that again. I will hold onto you like this". Diana said.

Melody could feel a warm and wet substance on her body and knew that Diana was already in tears. She lifted her hand and gently stroked Diana's hair while whispering gently to her.

"It's okay, I will not be going anywhere. I won't let anyone take me away from you anymore. What happened in the past will never repeat itself and that is a promise. I am back now, so stop crying okay" Melody whispered to her like a mother coaxing her child.

It worked like charm because right after saying those words Diana loosened her hands around Melody and raised her head to look at her face. "Is that a promise?" Diana asked and Melody nodded. "Pinky promise?" she asked again while she raised her pinky to Melody's face.

Melody looked at her friend like this and smiled inwardly. This friend of hers did not change one bit. She was the same as she was back then in high school and college.

Raising her pinky as well she said, "I pinky promise" and they intertwined their pinkies. Diana finally and completely let go of Melody after that. She held Melody's hand and pulled her along with her to the couch and made her sit beside her.

"I know..... I heard of what people said happened and that you were dead but I never believed that. And I was right, if you were dead then how are you here". Diana said smiling towards the end of her words.

A waitress walked in with the food that Diana had ordered before Melody arrived at the restaurant. The waitress left after placing the food on the table. The two women started eating.

"By the way Melody, where were you all that while?" Diana asked halting her hand that was holding the fork with a stake on it.

"Small town. I've been at Small town for the last five years with a middle age woman who took care of me". Melody replied and resumed eating her stake.

"No wonder I wasn't able to find you. I am sorry for all you have gone through with no one there to support you. I promise I will not leave you ever again. I will always be there supporting you". Diana said.

Melody was touched by those words. Her eyes became glassy as tears threatened to fall out. She could not believe her luck, she still has a friend like this who would choose to believe her against all odds. A friend who was willing to stand by her even when the whole world condemned her. How could she not love this friend of hers more and more?

She puts down her silverware and embraced her friend with a grateful smile on her lips. "Thank you, Diana. Thank you so much I appreciate it." Melody said with sincerity in her heart.

Diana with taken by surprise. She was not expecting Melody to get that emotional but then again she could only imagine how difficult it was for her to go through all that pain alone with no one by her side.

After the emotional moment had passed and both women got themselves together they picked up their silverware once again and continued their meal.

"I hope you are not planning on letting those people continue to walk freely much longer because I will be mad at you if you do that. They deserve to be behind bars". Diana said while cutting her stake.

"I intend to take back everything. Not even a dime will I leave in their hands. They will be left to rot in jail by the time I am done with them". Melody said and Diana smiled.

"Do you have the means to make that happen or do you need help with that?" she asked. "I have my means and connections. It will be just enough to get what I want". Melody replied and Diane nodded in understanding.

Soon the meal came to an end and the two ladies left the restaurant. Diana insisted on dropping Melody off at her place which Melody did not object to. As soon as they got into the car Diana's phone beeped with a notification notifying her of an emergency that needed her attention Melody had to go in a different vehicle after leaving her address with Diana.

Melody arrived at her condo and went to take a shower. As soon as she was done with the shower heard her doorbell rung and she went to open it knowing who was at the door. She opened it and Smith stepped in.
