The Man With Secrets

Hazel shrugs

"I don't know. You seem like a guy with a whole lot of secrets, to begin with" she sops her wine, her eyes on him.

Damn, he is so freaking hot!

She could see those bulging biceps from his shirt….

How much she wanted to know if they were as firm as they looked from a distance.

Jason chuckled

"Do I give you that impression?" He asked, eyes piercing hers.

"First, the car?" Hazel asked earning a laugh from Jason.

"To be honest, I wasn't expecting some big fancy car to come to pick me up and secondly, the entire floor here is silent. I noticed on our way up. We're the only ones on this floor" she pointed out.

Jason nods in agreement.

"Would you believe me if I told you this place belongs to a friend of mine? He owes me a huge favour and I asked him to help me impress this loving lady I met online" he smiled

"And how huge a favour are we talking about here?" She asked calmly.

Jason swings his glass in thought

"I saved him from losing his entire inheritance to a very deceitful lawyer. I pretty much saved his life didn't I?" He asked, extremely proud of himself.

"You're not so modest are you?" She asked

"Hey, can't blame me" he smiled

Hazel sighed

"Thank you. You've got me laughing all evening"

Jason frowned

"I'm not done making your night worth it just yet" he assured

"A promise there's more?" Hazel asked

"Definitely" he promised

The attendants wheeled in a trolley of delicious-looking meals. She could bet there were different cuisine in that tray, ready to be devoured by the duo…

The attendant placed them all on the table and took his leave without a single word from his mouth.

"Shall we?" Jason asked

"Of course"

They went on eating in silence. Jason had his eyes on her all through the meal, admiring her as though charmed with some sort of magic…

Hazel caught him off guard and he smiled at her.

"Is something wrong?" She asked in worry

"Yes. Something is wrong" he admits with a worried look on his face.

"What is it? Are you okay?" She asked as she drops her knife and fork on the table.

"I'm here, having dinner with a lovely young lady and now I can't bring myself to eat because she is just so stunning," Jason said in seriousness.

"Do you do this often? Try to charm ladies and make them fall head over heels for you?" She asked

"Call it beginner's luck" Jason smiled

"Well, not working" she offers

"Enough about me Hazel. What do you do? For a living?" He asked

He knew everything about her but he wanted to hear it from her at least.

"Well, I'm not your typical boss lady but, I work a few part-time jobs together. " She sighed

"I studied programming in college and I was hoping to start a life of my own until reality hits in a painful light. I wanted to open my own business, a cosmetic brand but there's a way your parents force you down a path you detest. I needed up with programming." Hazel sips her wine

"It can't be so bad could it?" Jason asked

"It could be that bad when the one person you try to make proud dies. And then mum follows…" Hazel zones out

She gave a nervous laugh.

"I'm sorry. I must bore you" she smiled

"Not at all. I noticed you needed a moment so I…decided to let you have it" he replied in honesty.

This is so not how he wanted things to end with them.

Goodness! This woman is so harmless and vulnerable right now. How on earth is he going to cheer her up and make tonight be the best she's had in who knows how long ago?

"You could still open that brand, you know? It's never too late to start up something new and exciting" Jason assured

Hazel laughed

"Sure. When I have enough capital for that, maybe I might take your advice" she smiled

The night passes by with discussion and drinking from a luscious wine bottle. Hazel forgot all about restrain on your first date rule. She was having so much fun with Jason and he was an absolute gentleman.

"I feel a bit tipsy. I should head home" she muttered

"I'll have my driver drop you off" Jason offered

Hazel tried to get on her feet but fell to the ground, unable to move.

What happened to her?

She didn't even drink so much wine and yet she felt like every part of her body was heavy. She felt really helpless as her vision of Jason blurred badly….

Why on earth would he do this to her? She's never even met him before….

Jason was seated on his chair, staring at her in pure silence. One glance at her wine glass and a dark circle around the tip of her glass…

She knew he was behind this…

"Why…" she fell to the ground, unconscious.

Jason exhaled; he wasn' in ht going to do this…

He had a freaking choice and that would be to want out of this whole thing. But his life was tied to this badly…

He picked up his phone and waited patiently for his assistant to pick up his call.

/Hello sir?/

"Get up here! NOW!" He ordered

One glance at her and he hated himself.

He didn't have to do this….

He didn't have to do this, he wasn't left with so much of a choice right now!

He knew she was harmless but here he was, bring a freak right now!

The front door bursts open with his assistant.

"Take her to the hotel," he instructed

Jason walks towards the unconscious Hazel, running his fingers over her face gently.

"I'm sorry Zel. I don't want to do this…that man is to blame…"

His assistant took Hazel away while he stared out the window, a glass of wine in hand....
