Chapter 10: The Family Reunion

Ryan had assumed Lia would be thrilled to see her parents. She had told him, she had last seen and spoken to them seven years ago. However, she looked like she had just been slapped across the face--after seeing a ghost.

He felt her grip tighten around his hand. Ryan squeezed her hand to assure her he was with her.

“Hello Papa, and hello Mom!” she said. Ryan held on to her hand and stood by her side like her knight.

“Mr. Nash invited us over to your supposed engagement party. So, you are really getting married?” Luke enquired.

Lia nodded, as she looked the ground. Ryan realized that Lia was scared of the man, who was her father. He was not surprised.

“You raised quite a fine and beautiful woman.” Ryan chipped in as he drew Lia into a sideway embrace, trying to break the tension.
