Chapter 33: Reunion
Thursday, May 10th, 8:18 PM
"Mako!" Elise shouted as she stood to her feet after tumbling out of the air duct.
When she regained her balance, she threw herself at Mako, wrapping her arms around him as tightly as she could.
"Oh my goodness, how I've missed you!"
She squeezed tighter and buried her face in his neck. Her heart melted as she felt his strong arms hold her in return.
"Where in the world have you been?" she heard in her ear.
Elise pulled herself away from Mako despite not wanting to. Tears formed in her eyes from the sheer joy his presence brought her.
"Dmitri found me," she said. "I've been imprisoned in his suite all day."
Mako pulled her to him.
"I thought something like that might've happened. For a while, though, I started to suspect that you had abandoned me."
"Never," Elise said with a smile.
"So, wait," Mako said. "You crawled all the way here? Through the ventilation system?"
Elise let out a light chuckle.
