Chapter 27: A Bold Decision

With Elise's whereabouts unknown and the heightened security added by Dmitri, Mako's vacation quickly turned sour. He thanked Arman at the bar and secretly meandered back out to the balcony to catch a breath of fresh air.
A gust of salty wind passed over him, and he eyed a crowd of guests gathering around the main pool on the main deck. Blending in might allow him to remain hidden while eavesdropping to see if anyone else had spotted peculiar behavior in any form.
He took a seat in one of the beach chairs under an umbrella and crossed his legs. The joyful sounds of the vacationers nearby alleviated some of the worries that troubled him. He knew most of them had come here for the same reason as he: to escape.
