1 Chapter 1

My office phone rang and I picked it up, it was Jake Black, my boss

"What is it this time around?" I thought, picked up the phone and waited for his annoying voice

"I'm expecting you in my office right now" he said and hung up the phone before I could reply

"Motherfucker" I said quietly, dropped the phone and headed to his office

As I was about to enter his office, something or someone crashed into me

"Hey! Watch it bitch" a young girl that was barely eighteen said to me

"I'm sorry" I replied calmly while trying not to loss my cool.

If not for the sex addict that was watching everything that was happening with maximum pleasure, I knew the best response for bitches like her

"Bye love" she waved to Jake which he replied with a smile while I eyed them both

"I saw that" he said with a thin, cocky smile which irritated me more

"Sir?" I asked

"The girl must be good" I thought because he rarely smile and I also imagined what just happened here in this office some minutes ago

"Follow me" he commanded, got out of his seat and headed out of his office while I followed

We headed to the lift, took the lift and landed in his personal garage

I followed him obediently as we headed to one of his car, it was winter white and it most be new since I've never seen it before

He put his hand inside his pocket, took out a car key and said "This is your car as from today henceforth" while stretching his hand with the car key at my direction

I scanned every corner of the garage immediately to see if there was someone else with us that I wasn't aware of

"Candace" he called

"Sir" I answered "Were you talking to me?" I asked unbelievably

"Yes of course. I was talking to you and I said this car is yours from today henceforth"

"Why...wh..y..why..." I stammered "Why are you giving me a car?"

"Because you deserves it" he answered cockily

"I... I don't deserve..." I trailed off

"You deserves it. You've been working for me for the past three years and I think this is my best way of rewarding you" he said and handed me the car key

"Thank you sir. Thank you" I said as I jumped into his hands, not caring about the fact that his hands were wrapped around my waist firmly

After some seconds, I released myself from the hug and went to the car that was smiling at me

"Can I?' I asked him

"Of course" he replied

I opened the car, sat inside it and started the car

"Wow" I thought "Money is good"

I closed my office door when I was back inside, ran to where my bag was, took out my phone, and dialled my bestie's number

"Hello" I said almost screaming

"What is it?"

"You won't believe this"

"What?"

"Jake Black gave me a car"

"What!?" She screamed "I'm sorry. I'm sorry" she said quietly to people that I was sure were her co-workers "let me get to the restroom" she said to me

"Okay" I replied and waited for her

"So, what were you saying?"

"I said Jake gave me a car"

"Are you serious right now? Or is this a prank?"

"Will I prank you with something as serious as this"

"Okay, what is it name?"

"I don't know yet because I didn't think of checking it but the color is white and the car is beautiful"

"Oh my God! We have to celebrate this!"

"Of course. Meet me tonight at our usual bar, I'm gonna call Chris too and Bring your boyfriend too"

"Okay. Congrats"

"Thanks"

After hanging the phone, I called Chris, my boyfriend

"Hello" I said jubilantly when he finally picked up

"Babe"

"You won't believe what just happened"

"What?" He asked attentively

"The bastard" I said quietly "gave me a car"

"What!?"

"I still can't believe it myself"

"Who is the bastard?" Someone inside the office asked and I dropped my phone to see who it was

"Jake" I thought and was already thinking about the worst thing that might happen

"Sir?" I asked and hung up the phone

"You called me a bastard"

I wanted to say that it wasn't him that I was talking about but I knew that it was only going to complicate my problem, so, I kept shut

"I'm used to it" he said with a shrug and changed the topic "Be ready by six this evening, my driver will come to pick you up" he said and started heading out of the office

"Where are we going sir?"

"Wait and see" he replied and left

"Motherfucker" I whispered and rushed to the door to see if he was still lurking around, locked it and dialled Susanne, my bestie's number

"Hello" I said

"Don't tell me now that everything was a prank"

"Of course not but there is a change of plan, we are having a business meeting in the office, so, I might not make it"

"Are you serious right now?" She said angrily

"I'm sorry"

"I just finished talking to Ken right now, what do you expect me to tell him now"

"I'm sorry. I will make it up to you"

"You better do"

"Alright, bye"

She hung up the phone without saying bye and I called Chris too

"Hello" I said

"What was that all about?"

"I'm so sorry. He came inside the office all of a sudden but everything is fine"

"Are you really serious about the fact that he gave you a car"

"Of course"

"For what reason?"

"He said... because... I work hard"

"And you believe that?"

"Of course. What other reason do you think he have?"

"I don't know. let meet tonight"

"I don't think that is going to be possible" I replied

"Why?"

"Because there might be a business meeting in the office, and I might get home late"

"Okay then, see you tomorrow"

"See you tomorrow, love you"

"I love you too"
