I Only Met You Today
"...Yeah, I have" Liam Chi turned his body to face her, "and it was you".
Ying Yue quickly turned her head to look at him. "Me?" she asked flabbergasted, "Was I the one who made you fall or helped you up from the fall?"
Liam Chi stared directly into her eyes as he answered, "Both"
"....how is that even possible?"
"7 years ago-"
"I only met you today." Ying Yue quickly injected, "you got the wrong person".
Liam Chi ignored her. "7 years ago, I met you behind a restaurant's toilets." Ying Yue raised her brow questionably, why does she keep meeting people in the restroom?
"My girlfriend of 6 months had pulled me into an alley, hoping to cut things off secretly. I guess she still cared then, considerate enough to not dump me before her friends. She left me broken in the dark alley"
Ying Yue snorted "so considerate". But Liam Chi just ignored her.
"When I got myself together and looked up, I saw you."
"Wait, what? You saw me? in the sketchy dark alley? Nah man you got the wrong person" Ying Yue denied. There was no way she would walk into a dark alleyway.
"It was you. You were crawling out through the restaurant's bathroom window...I assume you got stuck though because when I looked up you were no longer trying..." Liam Chi saw Ying Yue about to deny but he quickly spoke up again. "When you saw me see you see me, you blinked your eyes quickly at me before asking if you had to pay for watching the show despite not being invited"
"... why does it sound so much like something I would do?" Ying Yue wondered.
"Because it was you, how can you not remember being stuck in a bathroom window and requiring a stranger to call maintenance to get you out?"
"To be fair, I don't remember a lot of things. I don't even remember what I had for breakfast this morning"
"You didn't have breakfast this morning," Liam Chi said.
"How do you know? Are you stalking me?" Ying Yue asked suspiciously while leaning in closer to stare into his eyes.
"No one needs to stalk you for anything. You literally announced it to the whole building this morning when stopped the elevator on each floor just to tell everyone you didn't have breakfast"
Ying Yue could just faintly remember doing something like that. She had too much time on her hands back then and her stomach was growling non-stop ... and somehow her mind convinced her that telling everyone in the building was the right thing to do.
"Oh wait wait, how did I help you? And you fell for me?"
"You taught me that people come and go in life. You meet people, but you don't decide whether they will stay. They do. And well...I guess I just fell in love when I saw you"
"....like love at first sight?"
"No, I looked at you twice before falling"
"....." They both fell into an awkward silence.
"Ying Yue, I love you. Give me a chance, please. Okay, my lines before weren't so good but I'm honestly trying to be sincere. You gave someone who hurt you so much a chance, why not give someone who hasn't hurt you a chance? He's not worth your tears"
Ying Yue smiled sadly, "I don't think I can..."
