35 Let's Talk

Maddison stirred awake. Her phone buzzed in her pocket. 

She had fallen asleep in the cab without realizing it. They were still a distance away from their destination so she picked up the phone without a second thought. 

"Hello?"

"Maddy?"

That voice! It was her father! Though she was pleasantly surprised to receive his call, she quickly realized what it must be about. 

"Yes, this is Maddison," She said coldly. 

She couldn't hide her emotions even if she wanted to. Still, she held up hope that he contacted her for something else. 

"It's your father, Keith. Are you free to meet?" He asked. 

Maddison held her breath and closed her eyes. 

"Is this about what happened earlier at the restaurant with Margaret?" She asked, not wanting for them to go around in circles.
