Crazy night at Dlane Villa

"Let me help you with that". A young maid in her early twenties offered.

" No". Dineo said almost shouting. She gripped the package tighter like her life depended on it. She needed the weight of the package to hold her onto her senses.

Themba looked at Dineo and smiled wickedly. "Karma is a rich CEO in sexy casual wear". He thought to himself. He turned towards the sitting room without even inviting Dineo in.

Dineo stared at the large mansion she found herself in.

Dlane villa had a large compound, the main house is situated five minutes walk to the gate. It had four well-armed security guards and about ten house servants. The main house has three large sitting rooms, four rooms en suite and five guest rooms, three toilets and five bathrooms. Behind the main house was a small house of three bedrooms where the Khumalos lived in.

" Look who we have here". Mr Dlane walked into the sitting room.

"Good evening sir". She greeted in Xhosa.

" Oh, we don't speak that here". Themba answered.

"Oh". Dineo said embarrassed.

" Come in". Mr Dlane offered and ushered her to the dining room.

Mrs Dlane also came down from her room and they all had dinner alongside other guests.

---------------------

Dinner started with Cape Town tarts as starters, sticky chicken winglets as main and the dessert was Gelato. Prior to Dineo's presence in the house, Mrs Dlane invited two heiresses and their parents who were family friends to dinner. Her plan was to intimidate Dineo. Everyone at the table had something interesting to talk about, new cars, houses, summer vacations and business; everyone except Dineo who just looked on and listened. She couldn't even talk directly to the snobbish heiresses who are graduates of prestigious colleges.

"So where do you come from?". Mr Dlane spoke directly to Dineo, no one did since dinner started.

" Eastern Cape sir". She said and smiled like she knew what was going on in their minds. "You?". She asked Themba.

" Take a wild guess". Sarcasm laced his voice.

"Where are my parents?". Dineo changed the subject.

" Your mum is probably somewhere in the house cleaning, that's her job right? And your dad is on an assignment". Mrs Dlane answered obviously to remind her of her parent's place in the house.

" I will go find her". She stood up.

"Where do you think you're going, you crazy girl". Mrs Dlane stood up to and so did everyone at the table. Mrs Dlane smiled to herself as she knew her plan to embarrass Dineo was working.

" I'm going to find my mom". Dineo answered. She decided in her mind that she hated Mrs Dlane. How did her parents and sister survive with her, she thought?

"This is why you should never give slaves privileges".

" Slaves". Dineo repeated silently.

"Yes slaves, that's what you and your parents are. We own you and your entire family. For years, I have been feeding and clothing your family for years and all I get in return is an uncivilized future daughter in law and a kleptomaniac father".

" What did you just say about my father?". Dineo asked her angrily. She hated to hear Mrs Dlane speak of her family like that.

" Just what you heard".

"How dare you". Dineo's temper rose and she stepped angrily towards Mrs Dlane.

*Klap*

A large strong hand stung Dineo's face and she felt sick to her stomach. She was slapped by Mrs Dlane and her cheeks hurt.

" Don't you dare be rude to me ever again". Mrs Dlane warned strictly.

"But...". She stammered in response.

" That's enough". Mary Khumalo spoke.

Dineo turned to find her mother at her back. She barely recognized her.

"Mom". She rushed to her mother for support.

" She is very sorry Mrs Dlane". Mary Khumalo apologized.

"No, my wife is the one that's sorry Mrs Khumalo for causing such an embarrassment to your daughter". Mr Dlane apologized.

"Let's go upstairs". Themba offered Dineo. Dineo gave her mom a hug and handed the presents to her.

Themba and Dineo went upstairs leaving a stunned and angry Mrs Dlane downstairs.
