Chapter 48: Committed

*Nigel's POV*

Today was tea and biscuits day with my mom. I know she’s going to ask me a hundred questions about Sophie. Though she only met Sophie briefly, I wondered what her impression of Sophie was.

“Mom, I’m here!” I called out. I let myself in and met my mother at the patio.

“Are we not having tea in the tearoom today?” I asked.

"So, I met Sophie and can certainly see why you are attracted to her. Do you think she's the one?" my mother completely ignored my question.

"Mom, please," I pouted.

"What? I can tell you are smitten by her, Nigel."

“Mom. I-"

"And I wanted to give you something because I can see the sparkle in your eyes."

"What do you have for me?" I asked.

"I'll be right back," she said as she exited the room.

I placed my hand on my chin and contemplated what she could possibly want to give me. I had everything I needed and wanted.

My mother entered the room again and handed me a handmade wooden jewelry box.
