Chapter 39: Intoxicating

*Nigel’s POV*

Sophie interlocked her arm with mine. It was the first time she was affectionate toward me since we broke up, and it felt good. I felt a warm sensation throughout my body.

"Which path would you like to choose?" I asked as we stood before several different crossroads before us.

"Hmm..." Sophie rubbed her chin as she completed the choices. “I'll go with the dandelion path."

'Yes! There isn't anyone on the Dandelion path which means I'll have her all to myself,’ my inner thoughts screamed. But I had to push them down. I still wasn’t sure I could trust her just yet and this would be my opportunity to find out.

"Shall we?" I extended my arm and led the way.

There was an awkward silence at the beginning of our walk. I didn't want to force anything. I knew how important it was to let the moment be whatever it was going to be.

"So, what do you want to gain from this experience?" she eventually questioned, deciding to break the ice and end the silence.
