*Nigel’s POV*

I know I broke things off with Sophie, but I looked forward to seeing her, even to discuss information about the video link.

"Shall I set a vase of fresh roses on the table, along with the food, Mr. Smith? I have a few left from yesterday," Hector, my chef, asked.

"That would be perfect," I replied.

I had Hector make a succulent lunch with fresh lobster tails, roasted potatoes, and clam chowder soup. I didn't plan to make the afternoon so formal. I don't know what came over me, but I felt compelled to make this afternoon special.

"Mr. Smith, your guest has arrived. I'll let her in,” William noted. He walked to the door and proceeded to grab the door knob when I stopped him.

"Wait. I'll walk Sophie in,” I stated. William looked at me strangely.

"It's okay. I'll be fine, William."

Knowing he couldn’t argue, William nodded and looked walked away.

I opened the door and walked to Sophie's car. She was grabbing her purse as I approached.
