44 Chapter 44 Change of Plans and Supercar

George, Connor, Missy, and Paige were walking across a lawn towards an old man seated in a field, where young individuals in caps were training for baseball.

"Excited for your first day, Missy?" George asked as he held his daughter's hand.

"I'm excited, Daddy. I'll show them what you taught me," Missy replied with an eager smile.

Approaching a grumpy old man who was rummaging through a bag, he noticed our approach, looked up, and spoke with a hint of embarrassment in his voice.

"Hi... George," the old man said, and George responded with a nod, attempting to lighten the awkward atmosphere. He then turned to Missy and said, "Hey, Missy, why don't you go warm up over there?" He gave Missy some instructions, and she happily skipped off to the field.

Dalle then looked at Paige and said, "Don't tell me she wants to join the team too?" Connor glanced strangely at Dalle, wondering why they were wasting time with baseball. After all, college was just around the corner, and they still needed to decide where they were going to stay when they arrived.

"Ah," George began but paused, looking at Paige, who had a smile on her face. He hesitated, and a mischievous expression briefly crossed his face before he masked it.

Having spent time with Paige, he knew better than to be fooled by her lovely, innocent appearance. She was a real troublemaker and enjoyed pulling pranks.

"Yes, I want to join the baseball team. Any problem with that... Dalle?" Paige said with a smile that wasn't exactly sincere, her eyes narrowed slightly.

For some reason, Dalle felt a chill run down his spine upon seeing that smile from the girl and stammered, "No... no problem at all. Look, I also have girls on the team." He pointed to Missy, who was warming up by throwing balls to Billy.

"Nah, I don't really want to join your baseball team. Just messing with you... and I must say, you fell for it," Paige said, chuckling with a completely different smile, confirming it wasn't a hallucination.

"Ahem," Dalle quickly coughed to gather courage, then looked at Connor, who was trying not to laugh, and said, "You must be Connor. Meemaw has told me a lot about you, saying many good things, blabbering about how mature and strong you are. Hearing her say those things made me want you on my team more and more. So, what do you think?"

"I really don't plan on playing baseball. As Meemaw must have said, I'm about to go to college with Paige. Tomorrow we're heading to Washington to see if there's an apartment available in the city before we settle down, so I don't have that idea right now," Connor replied neutrally.

"Tsk tsk, what a shame. At your age, I was playing baseball and dating lots of girls," Dalle said, disappointed that he couldn't recruit Connor to his team.

"Indeed a shame, especially with your looks," George added, throwing in a few remarks.

At that moment, I felt a hand grip mine tightly, and someone glanced sideways at me with penetrating eyes and the same forced smile as before.

Dalle and George suddenly felt as if they were facing a wild animal in the Amazon jungle. They looked around, trying to identify who was staring so intensely, but the feeling soon faded.

Dalle and George exchanged glances and burst out laughing, putting their arms around each other as they walked over to the bench to chat. Sometimes all it takes for men to bond is a moment of danger or fun.

I looked at Paige and asked, "When did you learn to do that?" She responded with an innocent and confused look, asking, "Do what?" I shook my head in despair and said, "Never mind, look over there, something interesting is about to happen," pointing to the middle of the field where two boys were playing catch, and Missy was approaching them.

"Can I warm up with you guys?" Missy asked the red-haired boy, who rudely replied, "I don't play baseball with girls!" and tossed the ball back to his friend.

Missy realized the situation and retorted, "Really? Your friend over there is playing with one now," smiling victoriously.

"Hehehe, she called you a wimp, hahaha," the quiffed boy laughed, finding it very amusing.

Near the stands, Connor and Paige watched with proud looks.

"Did you see that? I taught her that," Paige said proudly.

"Cut the nonsense, I'm the one who taught her. You just taught her how to annoy me," Connor retorted.

"You son of a..."

And thus, an argument broke out in the stands.

At the Cooper household,

"How was your practice, Missy?" Meemaw asked Missy.

"It was good. The boys were annoying at first, but I handled it," Missy replied.

"I was the one who taught her," Paige said proudly, reminding me of a certain character from Harry Potter who loves books.

Meemaw then looked at Missy and said, "I'm so proud of you," and Mary joined in, "Glad you had a good day."

George interjected, "Not only did she have a good day, but I did too. Guess who I'll be having a beer with?" George exclaimed excitedly, and Mary signaled for him to continue. George then looked smugly at Meemaw while eating a chip and said, "Your new friend, Dalle."

Meemaw's eyes widened, "No fucking way!" she exclaimed, and Mary reprimanded her, "Mom, watch your language. There are kids around."

A little later,

"George, got a minute?" Called by Connor, George became apprehensive. Normally, Connor wouldn't privately call him like this, and George responded, "Yes, sure, what's up?"

"So, I wanted to take a walk and show you something. Will you come with me? It's kind of important," I said, discreetly nodding towards the door with my head.

Seeing that it was something important, George quickly followed me outside.

"So, what did you want to show me?" George asked curiously.

"Relax, we're not even there yet. I guarantee it'll be very pleasant," I said to George, leaving him even more curious.

A few minutes later,

Arriving at a private shed,

"Hey, we're not breaking in here, are we?" George asked worriedly.

"Don't worry, everything here belongs to me," I replied nonchalantly, and George gave me a strange look before sighing, "I forgot you have a lot of money," speaking ironically, as he had raised Connor since he was little, and seeing someone who had generated a large sum of money from a young age was a strange feeling for him.

"Are you ready?" I asked George, who was looking at me strangely.

"Huh? Yeah, ready for whatever," George said, snapping out of his thoughts.

I then opened the shed gate and turned on the lights. Inside the shed, there was only one thing in the center—an imposing-looking car, completely black with a unique design for its time. The chassis was made of carbon fiber and aluminum, resulting

in a lightweight and rigid structure that contributed to exceptional vehicle performance. The aerodynamics were carefully designed to maximize stability at high speeds, including details like the adjustable rear diffuser, resulting in a magnificent design.

"What on earth..." George was dumbstruck by this machine, seen for the first time with naked eyes. Initially, he had read about a car in the newspaper that had an otherworldly appearance, sparking his interest as something intriguing to check out beyond his everyday life. But now, it simply appeared before him, leaving him astonished.

"Well, how do you like it?" I asked with a smile. "Like it?!! This is magnificent!!" George exclaimed as he approached the car, touching its hood as if touching his first love and fearing to break it.

But soon, George had a moment of realization. "Wait, if this shed is yours, then..." George paused, swallowing nervously, considering the possibility. His expectations were met with my next words.

"Its engine is a BMW S70/2 V12 6.1-liter naturally aspirated, capable of producing around 627 horsepower. With a six-speed manual transmission, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of over 380 km/h. And yes, it's mine," I quickly listed the engine specifications and continued, "I want you to do me a favor. I want you to help me drive this car to Washington since I don't have a driver's license and don't really trust Meemaw with it."

"Cough cough, you can't say that; you know I have a weak heart," he said while gently touching the back of the car and concluding, "But I really want to ride this beauty," before giving the car a kiss, after all, a good car is the dream of every family.

"George, now I want to discuss another matter with you," I said in a serious tone, and George understood and walked towards me, asking, "What is this about?"

"Let me get straight to the point without beating around the bush. I want you to accept this; I won't accept no for an answer. I've made a lot of money, much more than this, a hundred times more than this," I said quickly as I handed him a check, leaving him no choice.

"10,000,000 dollars??!!" he exclaimed in shock, and I said, "This is all to improve our family's condition. I want you all to move with us to Princeton. After considering it thoroughly, I want to abandon the idea of living in Washington. Princeton is a good location, and I wouldn't need to drive two hours every day to get to school since you'll be taking care of Sheldon."

"Wait, I can't accept this; it's too much money," he said seriously as he handed the check back to me. I sighed deeply, knowing Texans are naturally stubborn, and said,

"Look, George, this money means nothing to me, and it will be convenient for me if you move to Washington or Princeton. It's up to you." After that statement, he looked at me hesitantly and finally accepted.

Finally, we talked. As the main pillar of the family, he has the final say in these matters and knows the good it will do for the family. We decided they would move to Washington, and Paige and I would go to Princeton. Now we await everyone's decision.

Driving out of the garage in the F1, George was extremely excited and headed towards his house with the V12 engine's roar.

Arriving at the Cooper household, the loud sound of the F1's engine and George revving it up caught the attention of Mary, Georgie, Missy, Sheldon, and Meemaw, who came out of the house.

Exiting the car with extreme style, wearing sunglasses and looking like a bad boy in slow motion, George addressed his gathered family in front of the house.

 "We need to talk."
