39 Chapter 39 The Promise

"Oh, this one came with a lot of energy," George says, grabbing a ball from Missy in the street.

"Energy is a good thing, isn't it?" Missy asks her father.

George looks at his daughter for a few seconds and says, "Yes... it's a good thing."

"George, Missy, come to lunch," Mary appears at that moment calling them for lunch.

"Mooomy, just five more minutes, please," Missy pleads with her mother, and then Mary looks at George, and George responds, "You heard her, she wants to spend more time with her old man here," George says with apparent happiness on his face.

Mary then huffs and enters the house to have lunch, and at that moment, Sheldon starts complaining about the inconsistencies in The Lord of the Rings, all to disguise his love for science.

The next afternoon,

George enters Missy's room, sees his daughter crying, and says, "Missy, want to play ball?" She responds with a teary voice, "No!! Go away!!" At that moment, George leaves with sadness apparent on his face. He thought he was getting closer to his daughter, but apparently, that's not entirely true. He then walks straight to the kitchen and grabs a Lone Star.

"Hey, you've already had a beer this week!" Mary says indignantly at her husband's action, and then he says to her, "Sorry, Mary, but right now I need it." Connor and Paige, who were in the kitchen studying at that moment, look at George's strange behavior and find it odd.

I must say that since he started exercising more, George has kept strict control of beer, with the support of his wife, this became even more apparent. So today's morning scene became strange.

And then I look in the direction where George came from, it was Missy's room. I exchange glances with Paige and get up and go there with Paige following behind me.

Opening the door slowly, I see Missy lying down, crying with her face buried in the pillows. Paige then pushes past me and goes straight to Missy, holding her in her arms and asks, "What happened, Missy?" Missy replies while crying, "He likes someone else."

At that moment, I understand the situation, and why George had that expression. It seemed difficult for Missy to talk to her father; it was much easier to talk to Paige, who was her friend. In the original, Missy talks to her father, but due to my interference and Paige's, that didn't happen.

And then Paige holds her tighter and says, "Oh, honey, I'm sorry, but can you tell me exactly what happened? 'He was talking to this girl, and this girl kissed him in front of me.'"

At that moment, I intervene.

"Missy, I can't say much about this subject, but one thing I'm sure of, a relationship is a two-way street; both people have to be on the same wavelength for something to work out. And at this moment, I believe you're not on the same wavelength. As perfect as he may seem to you, that's all it is at the moment. When you're in love, people's flaws become perfect to you, but those flaws can often be fatal to others. At this moment, I believe that for you not to get hurt anymore, it's better for you to step back.

Let's make an example. I will only be in a relationship with the person I intend to spend the rest of my life with, and then I really don't want to rush, especially at this moment when I'm growing. I believe in this. You can only truly love someone when you're willing to spend the rest of your life with that person. Otherwise, that person isn't right for you. Now I ask you, Missy, is this person, this boy, right for you?"

At that moment, Missy stopped crying, and Paige looked at Connor, both with their mouths open.

For Paige, she really didn't know that Connor didn't think that way, and then his rejections really made sense, he really didn't want to be in a relationship at this age, he really wanted to be sure before doing that, really admirable thinking. At that moment, Paige was wondering if she was the right person for Connor, or if they were on the same wavelength.

And Missy at that moment was processing this sea of information that had been dumped on her head, which at that moment really made sense. Thinking about this point, she really didn't need to think so strongly about someone who doesn't even know she exists. It was better for her to move on and try to find the right person for her. At that moment, seeing that no one else was talking, Connor continued.

"Missy, you committed to your father to train baseball, and at this moment, you fell short because of feelings for a boy. I want you to know that George, besides being a father, he is also a human being, and at this moment, you hurt him. At this moment, you are more concerned about a boy than spending time with him. He thinks he's not really more important than that, so he's upset about it."

"That's not true!!!" exclaims Missy with red eyes. At that moment, I sit on the bed, look deeply into her eyes for a few seconds, and say, "Then go fulfill what you committed to do with your father; that's the real excuse he wants. He just wants to spend time with you," and then I approach and kiss Missy's forehead. "Go ahead, slugger."

And then Missy gets up and goes towards her father and grabs a baseball glove.

At that moment, only Paige and I were left sitting on the same bed, and she says timidly, "Is that really true, what you said, is that really what you think?" I then approach Paige and look deeply into her dark blue eyes and say, "That's really what I think about it, Paige. I've noticed your advances, but I want to make sure you're the right person for me, and then I propose to you, if you really like me, Paige, you must be willing to spend the rest of your life with me, and then if you wait until then, I'll wait for you at the finish line." At that moment, I lean towards Paige's face and caress her lips with mine. It was quick, just to convey a message.

At that moment, as Paige was thinking, she suddenly feels something wet and soft on her lips, her eyes widen, not expecting this from Connor, she stayed like that for a while but then recovers from her stupor and then she takes Connor's hands and looks deeply into his eyes and says.

"I will wait, no matter how long it takes, I will wait for you."
