~ Earlier ~

Essy arrived home from school and was about to head to her room when heard her stepmother's voice stop her.

" And where did you think you are going, Bitch? "

As if not minding her words, " Good evening, ma. " Essy greeted politely.

Arianna scoffed when she heard this, " I see you are still able to speak politely after all that happened. " She said sarcastically.

" Um... Can I go to my room now? I need to do some of my assignments. "

" And who said you could go? Do you think your punishment yesterday has been completed? " She said and Essy's eyes grew wide immediately.

" But, I -- "

" Do you think that alone will suffice? " Arianna said cutting her off.

" I apologize again for my yesterday's behavior. " Essy said with a bow.

At this point, she realized that she had no other choice than to apologize or she won't be allowed to do her assignments.

Even though she wasn't at fault, but she still had to apologize to save herself.
