12 Chapter 12: Thoughts About The Royal Families

Cecil Leywin:

"My beautiful long hair..." I mumbled as we returned to the mansion.

"You look much better with shorter hair." Lilia tried to comfort me.

Then we both looked at Arthur, who was still pale as a ghost. It was his first time going getting a haircut, and well, let's leave it at that.

I shuddered. Even after five years, that guy still gives me the creeps.

But back to my hair, how can I be powerful if I don't have long hair? It's known that every powerful mage has long hair or a long beard.

I sighed. It's not the time to think about it.

It has already been two months since Arthur returned and decided to become an adventurer. He had an easier time convincing Mom now that she allowed me to become one, but he chose to become one after his ninth birthday, so we have two weeks left.

During this time, I learned a lot from Arthur, and we both progressed our cores, with me secretly helping him. I know he will lose his core in the future, and it's something necessary for Dicathen to win, but it's still useful. I even tried to help Sylvie get stronger, but probably due to being an Asura, it prevented me from interfering with her internal mana. I should try it when I'm stronger.

As of this moment, Arthur is at the dark orange stage while I'm on solid yellow but hidden as solid orange.

We also started teaching Ellie how to form a core, and I maybe did the same thing I did to Lilia and helped her do it slightly faster.

My reminiscing was cut short by loud and obnoxious knocks on the front door, followed by different voices.

As I arrived, I saw Jasmine hugging Arthur, and Adam was the first to notice me. "The monster and the devil have reunited. I should probably hide now." He joked, only to be smacked in the head with a bow.

"You and Arthur still look so much alike," Helen said.

"Sometimes it seems like they both share the same brain." Mom joked as she walked down the stairs with Ellie, followed by Dad.

"It's good seeing you guys again..." Dad didn't have the chance to say anything more as the girls saw Ellie.

"Oh my goodness! Alice, Ellie looks just like you! She's going to grow up to be so pretty!"

"Rey is going to have his hands full soon with potential candidates..."

After she said that, I tuned everything out as images of an older Ellie with a boyfriend. My and Arthur's eyes locked. He seemed to have thought of the same thing, and we just nodded with serious expressions.

We entered the VIP, and I looked down at the almost empty main area.

We arrived early, so only the workers and guards were present, preparing for the event.

The main area consisted of rows of seats that could fit over ten thousand people. And at the very top, where we are right now, is a single room attached to the ceiling and back wall with glass surrounding it, giving a clear view of the stage. Under us were smaller private booths, but nothing compared to the room we are in now.

I have visited the Auction House a few times before, but this was my first time in one of the VIP rooms.

Some time passed until Vincent came back, leading the Royal Family beside him.

When I saw the king, I tried my best not to laugh.

Seriously, how can a king only be a Dark Red mage? Having my connection to mana, I could check their cores without anyone noticing, and when I saw the trash, I became even more disappointed for a royal guard to only be Dark Orange and act like he does.

It's not surprising Diathen lost the war. The dwarven king and queen are just greedy dicks same could be said about Blaine. At least Queen Priscilla and their kids have a brain.

As for the elven family, I have mixed feelings. They are good parents, but that also became a big factor in Dicathen losing the war.

"I didn't know we would be here with guests, Vincent," Blaine said, looking at us.

"I apologize, Your Majesty! I assumed you wouldn't mind having a few other people with you. You remember my wife, Tabitha, right? Well, these are our close family friends." He said, waving his arm in our direction.

"If they are your friends, Vincent, then they are mine as well," Blaine replied, and Uncle Vince introduced them to us.

"Everyone, as you all may know, I'd like you all to meet the King and Queen of Sapin. Introduce yourselves to King Blaine Glayder and Queen Priscilla Glayder and their children, Curtis and Kathyln."

At this, we all dropped down on one knee.

"No more of this, now. No need to be stiff. We're just here to auction, after all." Blaine gestured for us to stand up.

"Kyuu?" Sylvie kyued after peeking her head out of Arthur's robe, which made the queen gasp looking at her.

Shit, I knew I forgot to tell him something.

"Oh my! What a cute little mana beast!" Queen Priscilla said as she made her way toward Arthur.

"She just hatched a few months ago. Her name is Sylvie. Come out and say hello." He responded, and Sylvie kyued in response.

The auction went the same afterward until I felt an intense blood lust that made me freeze slightly, and the mana reacted to shield me.

I instantly went to the crying Ellie. I know you wanted to scare the trash, Arthur. But making Ellie cry, oh, how fun our next spar will be. I actually have a new ice spell to test. Lucky you.

Dad had stopped by to make sure everyone was alright before he left to try and search for the mysterious attacker. Luckily for Arthur, there was an intruder that became a scapegoat.

---

"I have asked you twice, child, for a favor. Twice, I will ask you once more; will you give me your bond?" Blaine said, getting slightly angry at Arthur for not obeying his command.

"Then let me ask you a question in response, Your Majesty. How much are you willing to sell your children to me?" Arthur asked coolly, never batting an eye.

Arthur's tone threw Blaine off guard, and he couldn't respond, so Arthur clarified for the idiot, "You have asked me twice, and I have rejected you both times, yet it seems your pride won't allow you to accept my refusal. You don't seem to be aware of what you were asking me, so I hoped to clarify using my question instead. How much money should I give you in return for your son or your daughter, King Glayder?".

"Insolent peasant! You dare insult the King and his family?" A random guard yelled as he charged at him.

Everyone was surprised at this, even Blaine and Queen Pricilla, who was reaching for her wand to save Arthur and the Twin Horns trying to stop the guard.

But their help wasn't needed as Arthur stepped forward when the guard swung his sword down and grabbed it before pivoting on his right foot and using the momentum from the swing to strike him in the jaw.

As the other trash was about to release a spell on Arthur, I felt a large amount of mana instantly released before everything changed. The trash was suddenly on the floor, his leg bent inwards with shards of bones sticking out, and Arthur passed out on the floor.

I covered Ellie's eyes and ears so she would see or hear him scream as the adults panicked, not knowing how all this happened.
