Mystery inn (2)

The morning came faster than expected. I got up from bed and took a bath. I have a lot of work to do today and I can't afford to waste a single minute of my time. I have to go to the market and buy the necessities that I need. I wear the robe that Taka had given me, the one I wore yesterday, and make my way out of the room. I lock the door and leave.

Today I made sure to cover my head with a scarf like the Muslims do back on earth to hide my features from prying eyes. Mistakes are things that I can't afford right now, so no one can see that I am not a beast like the rest of the beast here. I walk slowly as not to attract attention from the people around me but I still manage to get all eyes on me when I arrive at the main room of the inn.

I ignore the stares that I received and walkout at the same pace. Leaving the inn I walk down these dangerous streets praying in my heart that no one causes trouble for me. "Get a hold of yourself Landon," I scold myself to pull myself together.

I reach the marketplace. Everyone around me seems to take an interest in me because of my covered face. I head over to the shop that sells clothes, I go over to the counter to speak to the saleslady. "Excuse me, I would like to buy a few dresses," I said in a polite voice.

She looks at me for a long time and doesn't say anything. I'm sure that she is wondering why I have my face all covered up but that is none of her business. I clear my throat to get her attention. "Can I buy clothes here or not?"

"Of course. Tell me what design do you want?" she asked me and now it was my turn to stare at her. What am I supposed to say to her? I don't know anything about women's clothing or design.

"Show me what you have and I will choose the ones I like," I say and excuses herself to go and get the clothes. "Good job Landon, if you continue like this you might be able to pull off being a woman," I congratulate myself.

She returns carrying in her hands some dresses. They don't look too fancy so they might not be too expensive. Just then a thought came to my mind that I had forgotten about before. "Do you sell makeup here?" I asked her.

"Yes, you can find all the women's products here."

"I would also like to see a makeup kit please," I say feeling proud that I remembered this fact about women. I am a natural at being a girl.

I check the clothes she brought, I can't see the difference between them as they all seem the same to me. I wonder why women spend so much time shopping when everything is the same. How do they decide what is better than the other?

I select five dresses with the first five colors of the rainbow; red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. She returns with a box of makeup which I examine but since I don't know what I should check to see whether it was of a quality I chose to just buy it. I pay for the dress and the makeup box, I don't even know a thing about applying makeup. How and what I am going to do with the box is still a mystery.

She packs the things for me and I leave the shop. I rush back to the inn as it is not safe for me to be out for long or I might attract trouble for myself. I put the things that I bought down on the chair and remove the scarf from my face. I try the dresses that I bought one by one to see if they fit me or not. Looking at myself in the mirror wearing the dress, I am surprised at how adorable I look. Just like a young lady.

"Beautiful," was the only word that came out of my mouth upon seeing my reflection.

I order the housekeeper to get me some food after trying on all the dresses. The dresses fit me perfectly and they are comfortable to wear. I keep the dresses back in the bag. The housekeeper brings me some bread and milk, not my ideal breakfast but I can manage. Soon after I marry the prince I will surely have a feast for breakfast. I eat to my fill.

I finish the food and take a nap to allow my leg to relax from all the running I have done since I woke up in this world. It still hurts a bit but most of the pain has subsided with the medicine that Taka had given me. She must be a good healer, she worked wonders with my leg. My whole body could also use the rest, the journey ahead of me is long and not going to be easy.

I open my eyes from the noise that I hear outside my room. I can't understand why the universe hates me that it can't let me rest. If it is not forcing me to run for my life then it is making it won't let me sleep. I get up and head out to yell at whatever idiot thought it right to disturb me.

I stopped at the door when I recalled where I was and what everyone else is. I leave the door handle and turn around to return to bed but froze when I heard what the person outside the door was saying. I went back to the door and leaned closet to hear.

"No one should know that the prince is here in the mystery inn. Keep watch and don't let anyone come close to this room," I heard a manly voice say.

"Yes commander," some voices replied together.

"It is important that the prince should rest. Keep watch from a distance and don't trouble him," the commander's voice instructed.

Now, this is what one would call blessings from heaven. It seems that I and the prince were destined. Without even having to do anything he came right to me. My luck must be changing and I hope that destiny continues to rain blessings down on me.

I can't let this opportunity pass me by. I have to seize this chance to somehow convince the prince to take me to the palace. I don't care what I have to do but no matter what comes may he is going to take me with him.

"Thank you destiny."
