Division Application

Aurgus 19, 3023 A.M., day of Satur, 12:17 p.m.

The sky was covered in dark clouds and it was raining heavily.

Vivian and her platoon were inside the Main Office building within the Training Camp's compound and waiting outside an office.

All of the women were seated on the chairs, while most of the men were standing.

The door of the office opened and 5 members of Vivian's platoon came out. There was also an officer, a High Sergeant to be specific.

"Next 5," said a High Sergeant.

Vivian, Kara, Uliah, Samantha and Turd got up from their seats and entered.

Inside the office, there were 5 tables representing each Division -- Infantry, Air, Sea, Inquisitory and Exploratory.

Today was the registration for the Training Course.

Platoon 1 had theirs between 8:00-10:00 a.m.

Platoon 2 had theirs from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Platoon 3 was 12:00-2:00 p.m.

Platoon 4 was 2:00-4:00 p.m.

And Platoon 5 was 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Kara and Uliah went over to the Infantry Division's table.

Samantha went over to the Air Division's table.

Turd went over to the Inquisitory Division's table.

And Vivian went over to the Exploratory Division's table.

"Name?" the man who was in his early 30s and behind the table asked.

"Vivian, Brother High Lieutenant," Vivian replied and addressed him according to the officer pin on his cloak.

"So it's you?"

"It's me?" Vivian said with a confused expression on her face.

The representatives of the Divisions aren't stationed here in the Training Camp. They would only come right in the middle of the month when the fresh recruits are done with their Basic Training and they will leave or go back to their Division once all of the fresh recruits have been processed.

However, given that Vivian was among the few people with more than 3 True Affinities, reportedly the strongest for this month's batch of recruits, quite powerful for her age, was a future potential administrator and was also said to be beautiful, they have heard about her during their stay here.

"I'm sorry. Let's continue with the registration," said the High Lieutenant.

"Yes, Brother High Lieutenant."

"You don't have any last name and middle name, right?"

"Yes."

"Your age?"

"24."

"Civil status?"

"Widow."

"The name or names of people to contact in case something happens to you?"

"None."

"Chapter Temple?"

"Luxen Chapter Temple."

"Class Magic?"

"Only [Halo]."

"Physical and Magic Force?"

"Adamantite for my Physical and Orichalcum-Adamantite for my Magic."

It was a lie.

Vivian's Magic Force was already Adamantite but she didn't want to cause any more attention.

"You have the recommendation letter and medal with you?"

"Yes."

Vivian took it out of her pocket and handed them over.

The man inspected the medal first before reading the letter. And as he was reading, his brows knitted together and then relaxed before returning his gaze to Vivian.

"It says on this letter that you are to be assigned in a safer location and position during your Holy Crusade."

"Yes, Brother High Lieutenant."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Brother High Lieutenant. Is there a problem…?"

"In the Exploratory Division, all members except for the Chapter Masters and a few of the officers will be sent out in an expedition to explore the Pagan Lands. Although no one can question this medal and recommendation letter but the Light Saint, we don't have enough manpower to protect you while on an expedition.

"If you were someone who only had 1 to 3 Affinities or someone whose name is already listed on the DG International Laws' database because of your Physical and Magic Force, there wouldn't be a problem.

"Unfortunately, you will only be attracting a lot of enemies due to your 4 Affinities and will put the rest of your team in danger. So the only way for you to venture out on an expedition without putting your team in danger is to go alone or have 2 Captains or 1 High Captain to guard you at all times. And I wouldn't be surprised if someone would go to the Light Saint to petition about this medal and letter because you are endangering the lives of other people and costing the efficiency of the mission.

"And even if you become a Gray Cloak because it requires the person to have at least a Physical and Magic Force of Adamantite and the [Resurrection] Class Magic, you would still be endangering the lives of other people.

"On the other hand, if you were to be stationed at the main headquarters or any headquarters of the Exploratory Division which will guarantee your safety, there would still be some issues.

"Firstly, although you might be intelligent -- at least based on your written test scores -- you don't have any experience in dealing with the politics and management between the Temple of Priests and the settlements in the Pagan Lands so the tasks that can be assigned to you will be very limited.

"Secondly, again, although no one can question this medal and recommendation letter but the Light Saint, that doesn't mean others won't develop some resentment towards you for getting special treatment. They might not provoke you openly in order to avoid being court-martialed, but that doesn't mean they can't provoke you in other subtle ways.

"And lastly, you will be wasting your talent. The fact that you were given this medal and letter meant your Chapter Temple sees a lot of potential in you. On top of that, you have 4 Magic Art Affinities and you're Physical Force is Adamantite while your Magic Force is Orichalcum-Adamantite despite only being 24 years old.

"Have you ever considered joining the Infantry or Inquisitory Division instead?"

Everyone inside the room stopped what they were doing and stared at Vivian and the High Lieutenant.

Vivian, on the other hand, was speechless.

I...

I didn't see this coming…

Was it really stupid of me to reveal that I have 4 Magic Art Affinities…?

But what choice did I have…?

Saying that I only have 3 doesn't make any sense…!

Should I say that I have 5…?

But that will only attract more attention and it would be a miracle if they wouldn't notice my blue blood in less than a month…!

No, a week…!

Maybe I shouldn't have come here in the first place…?

But I've attracted too much attention from overhunting that I even got suspended…!

Maybe I should just quit being a Priest…?

Tch…!

Idiot…!

I might as well say I have 10 Magic Art Affinities and I'm also a demon…!

And while I'm at it, I should also confess all the murders I've done to really seal my fate once and for all…!

"Um…"

Vivian wanted to ask if it was possible to ask the officer in front of her to give her a minute to decide but wasn't sure if that was a smart idea because she was afraid that it would destroy the reputation she had built here.

So my only choices whether I like it or not are the Infantry and Inquisitory Division…?

Hmm…

If I were to choose the Infantry, I wouldn't have any problem leveling up my Physical Arts…

However, I wouldn't have any privacy…

I wouldn't be surprised if they noticed my crazy growth and started questioning my methods…

I would also need to eat someone every 3 days in order to keep my blood color red…

On the other hand…

If I were to choose the Inquisitory, I would have all of the privacy in the world based on what Brother High Captain Marshall…

However, I'll be struggling to level up my Physical Arts once again…

"I understand what you're saying, Brother High Lieutenant," Vivian said and then let out an awkward smile. "But I'm not sure about the part of me being smart part and my Chapter Temple seeing a lot of potential in me…"

The Priest didn't say anything and simply nodded.

"And after careful consideration, I've decided to choose the Inquisitory Division."

He nodded once again.

"A very wise decision, Sister Crusader Vivian.

"And please don't get this the wrong way. We're not only thinking of your well-being to make sure that a young talent like you would grow up to their maximum potential, but also the others. Perhaps in the future, if your name is already part of the DG International Laws' database, you can apply for our Division and we would gladly welcome you with open arms. So don't let this experience dampen your spirits, okay?

"Anyhow, I wish you the best in applying for the Inquisitory Division and may the God of Light continue to watch over you."

Fuck…

So he really was serious…

Vivian saluted.

"Thank you, Brother High Lieutenant! And may the God of Light continue to watch over you as well!"

When she turned away and headed to the Inquisitory Division's table, everyone went back to doing whatever they were doing.

Turd was in front of the Inquisitory Division's table and was still in the middle of filling up his application so Vivian decided to go to the chairs on the side and sit there while she waited for her turn.

Hmm…

I'm confused…

Aren't the Divisions supposed to be in competition with each other…?

I mean, isn't that how it was portrayed back in my previous world…?

Like how the Army, Marines, Air Force, Space Force and Navy shit on each other on who is the baddest and meanest division…?

So I was expecting that the Divisions would be fighting over who could get me…

And the lucky Division that I chose would be kissing the ground I walk on, while the unlucky Divisions would be crying for missing out on such a beautiful, perfect and powerful person --…

Wait…!

Can I still call myself a person…?

I mean, does the word "person" only apply to humans…?

But then again, I'm still human…

I have a human body or appearance…

And I think my race is now Greater Demon Human…?

Or was it Greater Demonic Human…?

Ugh…!

Whatever…!

As long as there's Human…

What was I thinking about again…?

Oh, great…

I forgot about it…

Oh, I remember now…!

The Divisions will be fighting over who wants to get me in their Division…

And the lucky Division that I would choose to be part of would be kissing and licking the ground that I walked on…

Meanwhile, the unlucky Divisions that I didn't choose would be crying for missing out on such a perfect, wonderful and powerful being such as myself…

In regards to why there wasn't a strong rivalry between the Divisions, what Vivian failed to consider is that most people were like her who were only here to accumulate enough Holy Crusade points in order to increase their Grade Jobs and get better job prospects once they're back in the civilian world.

But of course, there will always be a few people who cared about such rivalries or even care about the Temple of Priests' goals. However, they were the minority.

There's also a small minority of people who just love killing with a license.

Nevertheless, if the Grade Job system didn't exist, there wouldn't be that many people who would be interested in joining the Holy Crusade. And if the Temple of Priests made the Holy Crusade participation mandatory, there wouldn't be that many who would want to join the Temple of Priests either and most of those people who are already part of the Temple would quit which would greatly reduce the might and political power of the Temple of Priests.

Just like what Criselle said to Vivian back in Luxen City, everyone has their own hopes and dreams.

And what the fuck was that DG International Laws…?

Having my name listed on its database…?

I don't recall hearing about that…
