chapter TWO

It was obvious for a person to jolt with anger if a ball hit him square on the face. And was the reason how it had happened.

Nate Moore, the football team captain wanted nothing to do with people passing by the football field in the school's ground. He just wanted to train his team mates and to win in the next football season that wasn't too far away. Nate was downright, totally, utterly and completely a jock of the school.

A popular one.

He sure did have clashes with other popular guys. Especially the badass guys of the school. When he thought there was nothing to do with the people passing by around the ground, he proved himself to be wrong.

His eyes caught the sight of one of the equally popular guy-- Adam Brown. One of the main reasons why he hated Adam was that once Adam had stolen his girlfriend in the 8th grade.

Grudges.

He didn't wanna keep any grudge on Adam because the poor guy at that time didn't even know about it. But looking at Adam he always felt jealous. Girls swooned over him and Nate hated it.

With the football in his hands, and Adam and his friend walking right a few miles away, Nate had only one thought. One will to do. He wanted to show his aiming and kicking skills.

So, he dodged the ball down to his feet and kicked it hard with Adam as the goal. He let out a loud laughter, which sounded like a dying bison, when the ball flung right past the field and hit Adam. And boy was he feeling pleased with himself. But the next thing he knew, he was being shoved to the ground by an extremely pissed off/ angry Adam, who looked ready to murder five goats.

"You son of a--" Adam growled, loud enough for the whole school to shake. But it didn't though. It was just where all the team members who were in the field gasped and gulped at the view. On the other hand, Nate was feeling close to the earth. That was for obvious.

But he stood up anyways, shoving Adam back because he wasn't less than any beast. Or that he thought so.

Adam was beyond triggered and everyone knew that now, not even god himself could save Nate. Adam straight away launched himself on Nate, causing him to lose balance and stumble backward. There was Hailey too, present a few feet far from the raging dogs, looking at them like world war III was on.

Hailey when observing too clearly found out that Adam's eyebrow had busted open where the ball hit, she knew that it was the right time to interrupt the fight. Not by herself, no because she wasn't any better than playing table pool game. So she called Claire. The one who took that boxing classes a month ago and is still trying to practice. Maybe real situations can help her boost her potential.

There was a point when Nate was choking Adam, pushing him hard against the ground as Adam's face turned bright red and held onto Nate's arm harshly, trying to pull away because he couldn't breathe.

Then, there were people gathering around them, chanting names and what not.

And in no time there was a huge crowd yelling and cheering at the scene. Adam kicked Nate off of him sitting up straight gently and sighing in relief. He knew that the game was on. But he was losing so miserably. Adam attacked with a huff, knocking Nate to the dusty ground. He grumbled some incoherent words under his breath.

Hailey met up with Claire within a few minutes from when she had called.

"You gotta stop this shit right now. Adam's not in the right state of mind." Hailey muttered, jamming her thumb in the air to motion to the fight taking place.

"Oh my fvcking goodness. Will Nate ever learn?" Claire groaned, slapping her forehead.

"Guess not. I tried to call out to Adam, but maybe they turned deaf in rage." Hailey rolled her eyes.

"Be right back."

Claire licked her lips, walking into the crowd, shoving past people and entering the circle. She totally saw how Nate was beating Adam's ass. It was clear that Nate was stronger at the moment. But nothing could be said.

"Adam!" Claire yelled, walking forward and trying to grab a hold of the two. She just wanted to stop the fight. But was met with a hit right on her cheek.

Now the situation just turned worse for Hailey as she witnessed the hit that could have been very painful for her to tolerate.

Nate came to a halt, letting Adam down, from where he was beating him up and stared wide eyed at Claire. He never meant to hit a girl. He would never hurt a girl... yet, today he did it. And seeing as though it wasn't just some girl, it was Claire Cooper. The Claire Cooper.

"Fvcking hell." She muttered, her hazel eyes turning a dark shade as she snapped up to look at Nate.

"Shit I-" And there he went, down to be met with ground again, as Claire threw a punch, enough to break his nose into two half pieces. Nate groaned, grabbing his nose.

Claire marched forward, picking him up by his collar, as the crowd went quiet.

Nate saw everything, how everyone started judging the scene one be one. He couldn't hit her back. He could take her down easily, but that would mean, the school mocking him the entire life for hitting a girl. So he let her handle him... quiet roughly. He could never imagine getting beaten up by a girl... in front of the whole school. She was hurting his ego.

Claire's palm formed into a fist, as she hit him, again and again, until his lips were bleeding and until someone had to actually pull them apart.

Mr. Griffin was standing there, holding both of them away from each other. One of them ready to pass out and the other raging in furry. Mr. Griffin was just the coach who failed miserably in controlling his football players.

"What is happening here?!?" He yelled, eyeing the three of them. Then, he turned to the others. "There's nothing to look at, get back to your classes!"

He watched as the students scrambled around and out of the field.

"Coach-"

"shush, Moore. I don't want to hear you. You have disappointed me. So, now, you four," He gestured to Hailey also, who was helping Adam up, "Principal's office."

"But I did nothing!" Hailey furrowed her eyebrows.

"I don't Care. You have to be there." Mr Griffin stated. "Nate, get back to the boys changing room."

Mr Griffin then mumbled something with the lines of 'this generation' and walked away not before giving everyone a sharp, pointed look.

"I'm getting back for what you did." Nate clenched his fists, narrowing his eyes at Claire.

"We'll see. But right now, I got you pretty good, huh?" Claire snickered, as she watched Nate huffing and turning away from them. But then, he looked directly at Claire and gave a watch-me-do-it look.

Claire just rolled her eyes.

Nate was gone in a minute and it left only Claire, Adam and Hailey.

"Guess we won." Claire smirked at Adam as he scoffed.

"Adam.. damn we gotta go to the nurse' office. You're fvckkng bleeding." Hailey said shaking her head at Adam. "Then we have to all meet up in the principal's room."

"Right, ill be waiting near the office." Claire sighed as she motioned them to go on.

"Claire, Aren't you hurt? You should be coming with us." Adam stated, with a straight face when Claire just laughed away.

"Just my knuckles are sore. Everything's alright. You go on."

"You sure?" Hailey asked, well knowing that Claire wanted to be left alone at the moment.

"Yeah just go."

When the football field was empty, Claire pulled out some paper towels from her back pocket. She stared at it for a minute before walking towards the bleachers, to sit down.

She pondered for a bit, wrapping the paper towels around her knuckles. It was a good fight, but she knew that Nate hadn't given effort in stopping or he just didn't fight back at all. At least she could take out all her anger from the morning on somebody.

There were still a few people walking around on the ground. Not like she cared anyways.

"Excuse me?"

Claire just wanted to be left alone. but some people could do that. So she just kept quiet not responding, and pretended that it wasn't for her.

"Excuse me please? Do you have any idea what took place in here?"

And with that, she was quick enough to look up at the guy who asked that. She was met with those sapphire blue eyes, sparkling in the day light. The guy seemed to be too oblivious for what was happening, and it only made Claire give a lopsided smile to him.

"Are you actually asking me?" She questioned, amusement in her voice.

"Yes. Who else? You seemed to have witnessed whatever happened here because you are actually seated here. I'm just only curious." The boy shrugged.

Yes. She did. Actually, she was quite a bit involved in it.

"Okay....?" She never expected someone to ask her about her own fight. But it wasn't entirely hers. "Uh... Its just that Nate Moore and Adam Brown fought." She pursed her lips.

"Oh my gosh! The Fudge? Who the heavens won??!"

She eyed him, looking at his baggy sweater which engulfed him, to his dark brown hair brushed neatly to the side.

"Uh.. no one?" Her smile turned into a smirk for no reason. Maybe because, the boy resisted himself from swearing? or was it because the guy didn't know she was actually the one to fight at all?

And that she would never know.
