Birthday

It's been six months, and now it's Alfred's sixth birthday; he couldn't be happier.

Sitting in the living room was the whole family and one new member that should be on the way in a few weeks. Yes, Alfred's mother was pregnant.

Alfred was a little nervous about having a little brother or sister. He didn't want his parents to love someone else and forget about him. He was selfish, but he was just a little kid who didn't know any better.

Putting that aside, Alfred was excited. Their parents said that some special guests would be coming over. They didn't say who, but he was excited all the same. Alfred didn't have any friends, and it's not because he's antisocial or weird; well, maybe it's odd, mainly because there are no kids the same age as him living near him. They are either way younger than him or way older. He was stuck in the middle and didn't have anyone in his age group to make friends with. But he's OK with that as he enjoys peace.

"So when are the guest coming over?" Alfred asked.

"They should come around 5 pm, so we have lots of time to have fun! But first, let's open your presents from your mom and me!" Luke Alfred's father said, getting up from the table and bringing over a couple of wrapped presents.

"Yea!" Alfred said, jumping out of his chair and running to the presents as he started to open his first gift. For the first present he opened, he was surprised to see a glowing blue and black necklace or pendant.

"No need to be surprised me and your mother found this in a dungeon a while back. If you send your mana into it, it has a teleportation spell embedded in it, but it's only good for one teleportation, and the distance depends on the amount of mana you send, think of where you want to go, and you will go there. We don't want you to be in danger now, do we." His dad said, smiling and ruffling his hair, and the wife and husband smiled at their child.

Alfred smiled and giggled as he opened his next present. It was a fancy-looking pocket watch; he's always wanted one. He always planned his days down to the second, but only for days he deemed workdays. Days where he would study and do stuff to improve his magic. His father was like that as well, always planning his days.

"Thank you!" He said in excitement, and his dad smiled smugly, looking at his wife. It was his idea to get the pocket watch. Viola ignored him and looked at Alfred opening his last gift.

It was a leather Journal book, something that he's been wanting as well. He's been doing experiments with different recipes and ingredients, trying to make some potions, and also reading about runes. Still, of course, all of his experimefaillure thanks to his lack of experience or enough knowledge. Still, he does it for fun as he loves watching different reactions of his potions, seeing if they explode. He found it fun, and so did his mom, but his dad didn't, as he always set off fires in the library where he did the experiments. So it was helpful to have a journal to write down his results.

"Thank you!" Alfred said as he jumped on his parents, engulfing them in a big hug, and they both smiled.

"Alright, go and play with your presents, oh and let me help you wear your pocket watch correctly," Alfred's mom said as she grabbed his new pocket watch and attached it next to one of the buttons on his suit and put it in the pocket next to it. She was making him look even more classy.

Alfred giggled. He liked wearing tuxes or suits. It made him feel good. Who doesn't want to feel good when they wear something?

"Alright, perfect now, shoo and go have fun," his mom said, waving him off and finishing perfecting his look as he ran off with his presents in his hands.

In the library, Alfred was seen writing down tons of notes on the experiments he's accumulated over a couple of months. Notes like don't add Thyme, Amethyst, and lemon together if you don't want it to blow up in your face.

Yea, he's been adding ingredients together without knowing what could happen. And could you blame him? There were not many books on potion making. People never dug into that topic, but he could care less as he found it exciting, not knowing what would happen next.

But what Alfred was excited about was Rune arrays, magic circles, and also the mana method. But he could only read one book about the theory of the Mana method and arrays and such. It's hard to get those books if you aren't an apprentice of a Spirit Guardian. So, all he could do was wait, but he was not in any rush, just curious and excited about it.

Alfred was in deep thought when his mother gave him a chop on his head, waking him up from his thoughts.

"Ow! That hurt!" Alfred said, and viola grinned

"The Guest will be here any minute. Come with me. We need to greet them." Viola said Alfred got excited to meet new people.

After a few minutes of the family waiting at the door, they saw three people enter the courtyard. It was one girl that looked about a year older than Alfred and two older guys. One looked middle-aged, and the other was an older man with a white beard.

"Aunt Viola!" Said the girl as she and Viola ran up and hugged each other. "Haha, how's my little niece? How's running the kingdom? Oh, and sorry about your parents," Viola added to Alfred's shock 'this is the princess? How does my mom know the princess?' Alfred thought stunned

"What! She's the princess!" Alfred shouted, pointing his finger at lolopechka, the princess of the heart kingdom.

The princess scratched her head embarrassed. "Yes, it's the princess, anyway I was excellent friends with her parents, and I visited her when she was younger, so she's my niece even if we aren't blood-related. It's just what I call her," Viola explained, and Alfred nodded dumbly.

"Oh, and this is Gadjah, and the other is pervy sensei," Viola said, pointing to the younger male and then to the older male. They both nodded then the older man had an Irk mark on his head.

"My name is not Pervy Sensei. It's Kisano, you brat!" The pervy sensei growled.

"Nice to meet you all, and you too, pervy sensei," Alfred said with a slight smirk, and his mom gave him a thumbs up. He could tell this man was a pervert by the way he looked at his mom. He didn't like it one bit.

"You brat!" The pervy sensei yelled, boiling with rage but holding himself together, not wanting to beat up a child in front of other people.

"Anyway, let's go inside and eat some food," my dad said, embarrassed about his wife's and son's behavior. They all nodded and walked into the mansion. The adults talked about random topics regarding the kingdom and stuff, but Alfred found it boring by the looks of it; the princess didn't look bored. She was talking enthusiastically about the domain.

Alfred sighed and just did some sketches to pass the time. It was finally dinner time, and Alfred ate some steak and salad. After that, the princess gave Alfred her gift. It was a token that would allow Alfred to enter the library in the royal palace. It is way bigger than their library and has way more books on magic, so Alfred is happy. They had some desserts then the guests left, wishing him happy birthday.
