5. The Decision

Alan looked over the papers in front of him over and over. He picked all of them up and then out them back down. He even went to far as to make a pro/con chart with more scrap paper. Then he grabbed the cleric and slid it off to the side out of the way. Honestly it felt a little weird to even being considering worshiping a made up god in the presence of a real God.

Alan picked through them again and slid the sorcerer off to the side. He was a great option but actually having to remember and use all those components was a huge pain that he was not willing to endure. It just seemed like a lot of extra work for some cool magic powers.

Both of the rogue classes started to look really good but then he remembered that this was the time of Ckajerie in the books and that there were a lot of jobs in the book that Ckajerie took that did not give a name or description. He was to afraid of him ending up as one of those jobs and since Ckajerie always came back alive and he was not the type to fail he would possibly cutting his life short. Not something that he was willing to do.

With both rogues off the table it left him with the ranger and the fighter. Alan sat back down and just stared at the two of then. He put them side by side and just stared at them. He was waiting for an epiphany but it did not seem like one was going to come to him. "It is times like this I miss a cigarette and soda."

Suddenly there was a pack of smokes, a lighter, and ash tray, and his favorite soda, cold but with no ice. "Before you ask it is not a sin and I don't care. Well I should say what mortals did to the tobacco was a sin that killed a lot of people but not the tobacco."

With no further hesitation Alan opened the pack and sparked one up. There were mint leaves mixed with the natural tobacco so he got a hint of menthol just the way he liked it. He took a long drag and then drank his soda it was amazing. He was really going to miss soda when he got to the next world. Well there was one character but he would be really hard to find.

When he was done with the first one he sat back in his chair and closed his eyes. He pictured the character in his head and went through a few things based on the way that he envisioned the character. Most of the visions were nice and clear but not all of them. A few things he pictured were fuzzy, mainly about the future after he progressed.

Without opening his eyes he pulled out another smoke and lit it. He took a long drag and blew out the smoke and with it the plans for the ranger. Then he pulled the fighter into his mind. He ran through all of the same scenarios as with the ranger and they were all crystal clear. He took another pull and shifted his thought to the future of the character and he could see everything like he had already lived it. When he opened his eyes he pushed the ranger to the side and put the fighter in front of him.

"Great elder this is the character that I want to become."

"So the fighter won out in the end. If you don't mind, what was the deciding the factor?"

"I closed my eyes and pictured both of them them in the same situations and while I could see everything about the fighter the future of the ranger was not clear. It means that I was not as close to him in the end."

"That is a great way to sort through your thoughts. It is harder to lie to yourself that way. So now we will move on to general information." A new set of die appeared in front of Alan. He knew that this would be the die that would determine how old he was. "Since you are going to be level three we will add a year to the roll."

"That sounds more than fair." Alan rolled the die and got a two and he was a little happier than he should have been. "So if memory serves as a human fight, that roll plus one would make me eighteen."

"That is correct. Now do you want to pick a size or roll for it?"

"Let's roll for it." Alan always picked them so this felt a little different. Two die tens appeared on the table and Alan gave them a roll. He was very surprised when it showed up two tens. The system showed the chart to both of them and Alan was now going to be six and a half feet tall. The die for height stayed since they were part of the formula for weight. He rolled and was happy to not max it out but it was still a high number.

"You are going to stand out that is for sure." He leaned across the table and saw that Alan had put one of his sixteens into his appearance. "At six and a half feet and 240 pounds you are going to be all muscle and with that in your looks you might cause a population boom in the northwest."

"I did not think about that. I mainly wanted to be handsome and charismatic to talk people into better prices. Though you are not wrong now that I think about it."

As they spoke his physical appearance options popped up in front of him. He saw that his height and weight were filled out. Now he had to make the final decisions on how he wanted to look. He pictured his character but he could not describe how he wanted it to look. Alan spoke to the system outlook. "System can you see things in my head if I picture them deliberately?"

A notification block popped up. (Yes I can see thing the user pictures.)

"That is good to know. I am going to picture a hairstyle from my favorite game and I want to start with that. I know it will grow and I have options but this is what a want to start with." Alan concentrated with all of his might about the hair that he wanted and suddenly the hair block filled out with the title 'gamer hair'.

Alan thought about his color and decided to go with raven hair. It was hair so black that it had a little purple tint to it. It was as dark as he could think. To contrast his hair he went with eyes that were really light blue with silver flecks in them. He hoped the system could get them right. "System I would also like a weeks worth of facial hair when I start so that I can see how it grows and see what i want to do with it. He pictured tan skin and the block filled in.

A notification popped up, (rendering complete. Would you like a preview?)

"Yes please." Suddenly there was an image about two foot tall floating over the middle of the table. It was slowly spinning. Alan looked at it and his heart actually skipped a few beats. He had never been attracted to a man before but he could also appreciate beauty in all forms and this body was a work of art. It belonged in a museum someone made out of stone and protected.

"That is a thing of beauty Alan. I do not think you could do any better."

"Agreed. Now all we have left is the starting items and any information and then off I go."
