1 Introduction

It started the day I was born. Interesting way to start this, but it's true. The moment we leave the womb we're assigned a number and someone else's number. We use that number to know who we're assigned to kill. That's right, we're all assassins. We kill because it's the law, if we don't follow through with our assignments, we get eliminated. Think of it as if it's school, if you don't do your work, you don't get to go on in your school years (aka, you get held back). I mean, the government told us that it's because of overpopulation, and also helps with anger towards others... So I don't really see much wrong with it, it's the law and if it's for a good reason I guess it's okay... Anyways, I have a best friend named Alicia, I call her Alice and she calls me Alli, it's just a thing we do, it's been like that since we met 8 years ago. She's been by my side through thick and thin, and I'm very grateful for her. Our families aren't as close as we are but that doesn't stop us from hanging out and making time for each other. She cares a lot about me and I'd hate for our families or time to get in the way of our friendship. I'm Allison and this is my story.
