Chapter 28: Lilith's Mistake

Lilith regained her consciousness and scanned her surroundings.

She saw that the infirmary was full of recuperating vampires.

She laid down  on a soft bed in an infirmary, attended to by Tominaga Toshiko, a hybrid she-wolf marksman/healer who belonged to the side of the Game Administrator and hybrid werewolf Fenrir.

"Where am I? What happened right after I fought one on one with Anubis? Where is Fenrir, Tominaga? "

Lilith asked Tominaga.

Just as Tominaga was about to open her mouth to answer, the hybrid werewolf Fenrir, who has shifted back to his human form, came inside the infirmary and sat down beside Lilith.

Tominaga heaved a sigh of relief, knowing that once Lilith starts asking questions it's hard to shake her off until she gets the answers she wanted to know.

She then proceeded to check on the condition of the other recuperating vampires after she finished giving Lilith her much needed potions, while listening to the conversation of both Lilith and Fenrir.

"Thanks for rushing to my rescue back there, I thought I would die for real in the hands of Anubis."

Lilith said, and struggled to get up from the infirmary bed.

"You stay down for a little bit more, Lilith. You haven't fully healed yet. Do you want your injuries to worsen?"

Tominaga said in a tone that warned Lilith.

Lilith bared her fangs at Tominaga, and shot a nasty look at the healer, but she didn't dare to do anything reckless in the presence of Fenrir.

"No problem, Lilith. What were you thinking back there? Doing a surprise raid on Anubis without a backup? That is a suicidal plan, Lilith."

"I know, Anubis. You also know how much I want to restore the magical powers of the vampires.  Imagine how powerful those non-hybrids would be in battle. The reason why I did a surprise raid straight at the doorsteps of Anubis is I want to get hold of both the Wadjet Amulet and the Book Of The Dead, and have Rebecca figure out a way to undo the sealing spell that sealed 80% of the magical power of the non-hybrid vampires. "

" And that's the main reason why you had to use the dumbest method to try and obtain both items from Anubis by force? That's quite incredulous, Lilith. Anubis isn't dumb enough to easily let both items get taken away right under his nose, and on his watch at that. I'm sure he also has formidable security measures in place at that underground basement of his. That's wishful thinking on your part to suddenly raid his place and expect his defenses to be easy to break into. You could have just simply saved yourself, and me all the trouble, and bribed someone close to Anubis. "

Fenrir's sharp and scathing remarks made Lilith shut up right there and then.

Although Fenrir's sharp and blunt way of speaking is sometimes too much for Lilith to bear, she admitted that Fenrir always has a point whenever he speaks.

Lilith was forever grateful to know that Fenrir always had her back, and Fenrir also did his own part to help end the war between the vampires and the werewolves.

"By the way, Lilith, I don't really have time to sit and talk with you for hours. I still have some important matters to attend to. So, I guess I'll see myself out. Don't give Tominaga a hard time, ok? You need to rest up and recover your strength first before bolting out of there and proceeding with whatever you got planned. "

Fenrir intruded into Lilith's train of thoughts.

Then Fenrir went out of the infirmary to give instructions to a certain assassin/paladin werewolf named Takeshita Toshiyuki, who was set to meet with an insider informer from the Necromancer Guild that Takeshita bribed to give him information on the whereabouts of the demon Alastair.

He knew that Alastair just angered the Necromancer Guild because of the death of the half-orc spy, and because of that, the Guild Leader of the Necromancer Guild must be looking for ways to get back and do vengeance against Alastair.

This won't do, Fenrir thought to himself. I need Alastair alive, unshaken and in one piece, and I'll hamstring every single elite member of the Necromancer Guild to death if I have to, even if it means a total war will break out again among the two factions.

Fenrir thought to himself as he went straight to the grounds of his fort.

He knew that Takeshita must be waiting outside already.

He needed Alastair alive, as that demon, who is the second in command of Beleth, is a crucial part of his plans on getting back at the Necromancer Guild.

Just as Fenrir left the infirmary, Lilith sensed a strong and icily cold presence lurking around unseen in the infirmary.

"Gyeo-wool, come on out. I know you're there."

Lilith called out.

Gyeo-wool finally revealed herself, and sat down in the chair next to Lilith's bed.

"How did your mission go? And where did you go off again, you sly fox?"

"I have bad news for you, Lilith. The primordial Titan Methis is displeased with Hades. We can't afford to have a civil war within our faction, when the relations between Orochi and Morrigan are still strained, and both of them are still on bad terms. We need to take action as soon as possible, and we have to do it fast. "

Gyeo-wool said in a serious and concerned voice.

" Thanks for your report, Gyeo-wool. There's no reason for you to worry, as I've just dispatched a hybrid to settle the difference between Methis and Hades. The three of them must be off now to talk somewhere while we are speaking."

Lilith replied.

Gyeo-wool, noticing that Lilith is still recovering from the battle with Anubis, couldn't help but remark.

" Did Anubis make you expose one of your trump cards when you raided his territory earlier? You shouldn't have attacked Anubis head on, so this wouldn't have happened in the first place."

"Fenrir told me the same exact thing earlier. Don't worry, I thought of something better this time. And I need your help for this, so don't go sneaking around for now."

Lilith replied to Gyeo-wool.
