(Ailith): Penalty

The surrounding gardens around the palace were equally as boring as the interior of the palace. Ailith had strolled the perimeter of it several times only to find that, well, there was nothing to find. She had been hoping to discover some secret tunnel or underground exit she could use to sneak in her teammates but of course it had been naive of her to presume that the royal family, or rather their security team would simply place it in plain view of passersby. She had tried to remain as inconspicuous as possible however, it seemed everyone on palace grounds had heard of her arrival. Hell, even the citizens might be aware of it.

'How to find the tunnel…' Ailith thought as she walked through the gardens. Surely, it would appear too suspicious if she asked the royal family outright. By this point, her feet were killing her. The flats she had worn were very thin and pinched at the toes. This made it even worse. 'I'm really not cut out for the royal lifestyle.' she thought as she shook her feet to try to loosen the tension on them.

Ailith quit after several attempts to break her shoes in. It was just too difficult.

Back in her room and exhausted after her first day here in Orbournth, Ailith plopped on her bed and passed out.

It felt like only a minute before she heard voices whispering by her. "Your excellency…"

"She told us not to address her as 'excellency'" she heard as one of her maids scolded the other.

"Well, how should I address her then?"

"I don't know. She said whatever was fine…"

"Ok...um Miss?"

Groaning Ailith sat herself on the bed. "What do you want?"

"Sorry to wake you Miss but lunch is being served in the main hall soon."

"That's it?"

They hesitated. "Well, we were wondering if you would like us to pick an outfit for you?"

"Go ahead." she said before lying back down. The time difference was getting to her by this point.

"Ok." Anne said chirpily. She quickly ushered the other maids toward the wardrobe.

Ailith tuned them out and tried to return to her peaceful sleep but somehow she was unable to. Something was bothering her from the back of her mind. She felt as if she had forgotten something important. 'What could it be?' she pondered for but a second. Then she heard gasps coming from the direction of the wardrobe. Her eyes went wide as she realized what exactly it was that she had forgotten. Ailith bolted from her bed and made a beeline for the wardrobe. She had momentarily forgotten that her weapons were hidden there.

A memory flashed through her mind as she ran. Ailith hadn't been able to stop her curiosity from reaching for the book when Clarice had presented her with Orbournth's official set of rules and punishments.
