Miracle, it's a miracle

Having walked for over an hour, Joseph being led by Ann had arrived at the outer ring of the city. Each city around the world has been constructed in rings, the outer ring belonging to the majority of the population with both housing and economical factors, the middle ring belonging to the middle class from businesses to educators from scribes to the lawmakers.

In the core of the city, if a regular person were to have access would find the governing body of the city be it either royalty or a governmental body, in the core ring some places of entertainment could be found but most sources of entertainment would usually be outsourced from the other two rings.

While the two walked in silence, Joseph took the time to go over his stats and the shop, it was time to buy something.

Joseph called up the System Menu and noticed the addition of a new tab after his testing.

Being satisfied with his developing stats, Joseph went to the shop to see what he could buy. In his mind the menu changed from the [Character] screen to the [Shop] screen.

As Joseph looked at all the items available, he was aware of the System experience cost behind the items within the shop and with that he got started on viewing the description of the items in particular the Mind's Agony potion.

[Potion of Minor Mind's Agony - 5 AME]

[Description: Explodes on contact, contents will evaporate into a mist and will enter any approximate being. Causes the victim's to have nightmarish hallucinations increased risk of death. Warning there is no cure, it is recommended for victims to be held immobile to prevent injury.]

"System can you tell me if there could anybody be immune to this Mind's Agony potion?" - Joseph was contemplating about those stronger than him, could he stop them or would he be easily dealt with?

(Of course Host, the stronger the mind of a person the less affected they will be by it unless they have mind and heart demons. Those affected by heart demons are affected by an additional 35% and those affected by mind demons will be affected by an additional 65% and risk of being crippled.)

Upon seeing the the System's response Joseph felt a chill go down his spine, he didn't quite expect the effects of a potion to be so severe.

"System is there a way to possible restore the mind in the event some one becomes crippled? Could I also be affected?" - The fear was quite evident as Joseph had asked the System.

(As the Host of the Ascension Merchant there is no need for concern.)

(In the event of such issues arising, the System will return the Host to a period in time where the Host was not affected.

The fear vanished in an instant but a new question arose, just what did the system mean? Was time travel involved? Weren't there any other options? Would he have to redo everything he had already done once he returned?

"System, what do you mean by restoring me to a period of time before I become affected? Aren't there any other solutions? - Surely there had to be other options, Joseph had thought while waiting for the System's reply.

(Of course Host, the issues stated relate to more life threatening events.)

(For minor issues the System provides the Host with an automatic affliction cleanse. The following are minor issues that can cause an affliction to affect the Host: Poison, Charm, Sleep, Paralysis, Hallucinations. These are the more commonly known afflictions of this world.)

"Young Master, we are almost at my families house." - A slightly timid voice broke Joseph out of his reverie and nodded towards Ann as they were almost at their destination.

"System I would like to buy 10 x Potion of Minor Restoration and 10 x Potion of Minor Mind's Agony" - While walking to Ann's family house, the System had notified Joseph regarding the advertisement of an auction taking place the following day.

This notification would be important for testing how the goods he could buy from his System would fare in this world.

They soon came to a run down looking home when Ann quickly raced to the door and started knocking. "Mom, I'm home" - Ann cried as she raced inside.

*Cough* ... *Cough* A coughing and wheezing sound could be heard coming from further inside the house.

As Joseph followed after Ann, he took notice of the poverty around him, having been born in wealth the poverty around him seemed to ooze out of his surroundings. With a deep sigh he increased his pace to keep up with Ann.

When he entered the room he saw Ann crouching on the floor next to a single sized bed, on the bed he noticed Ann's mother, the both of them could have been sisters the exception being the age gap.

Ann's mother lay in bed with soft eyes staring at her daughter, blood could be seen trickling down the side of her lips.

Joseph's entrance had startled Ann's mother causing her to have another coughing fit. "Mom"- Ann cried out at seeing further blood come out.

"Give her the pill I gave you" - Joseph softly commanded of Ann.

Her Young Master's command broke her out of her fear and took out the cloth bag from her pocket, she soon took out a pill from the pill bottle and gently placed it inside of her mother's mouth.

Ann's mother had had her eyes closed from the pain of the coughing fit when she felt a pair of soft hands, her daughters hands gently opening her mouth. Soon she felt something fall inside of her mouth, as she wiggled her tongue about to get a feel, the pill started to breakdown and the energy released flowed throughout her body.

Soon Ann's mother could feel a peculiar energy going about her body and she could feel her body healing. Not just healing her body it seemed to be improving her body at every aspect, the wrinkles were disappearing, her hair was regaining its color and the pain... the pain was gone.

She had forgotten about her daughter and had not even noticed Joseph's presence, so enthralled she was with what was occurring with her body.

A miracle, it had to be a miracle.

"The Gods had not forgotten about her little self." - She mumbled under her breath as tears of joy had taken over.
