Chapter 6: The Cardinal

After Lilith sat down Lamia Heroidias came in with two other staff members: one male and one female.

"Students today is special. Today you will get the system or in some places it is known as The Cardinal."

Students murmured to each other.

"What's the Cardinal?" A student asked.

"The Cardinal is a system that calculates your magical abilities and destructive power. With it we can accurately see your ranks and skills."

The two staff member gave an injection to the students. The injection contained trillions of attobots which measured the mana of a person from inside the body.

"It might sting a little."

When it came to me, I could feel the attobots travel through my veins.

"After a few minutes say "Status Open"."

A few students said it soon every student in the classroom said the words. A holographic screen about 21" diagonally popped up infront of the students.

"Status Open!"

Nothing happened.

"Status Open! Status Open!"

Still nothing happened. What the hell is happening?. Why isn't it working? Soon every student looked at me. Lamia Heroidias then came up to my row.

"What's going on?"

"It's not working."

"That's not possible. It can work with even work with Astronomical ranks and over. You're going to have to go to the Headmaster."

Just what I wanted.

Why didn't it work? I wonder. [Lamia Heroidias's thoughts]

As I walked through the hallway I kept trying to open my Cardinal, but nothing happened. I found myself at the Headmasters door. Much to my surprise the door opened on its own.

"Yes, Laertes Adynamos, how can I help you?"

"You know what happened."

"Obviously I know what happened I see everything it's just that your mother told me to say these things to act more professional and you know I can't stop it because of what happened." There was a sudden change in his tone as he spoke.

"So what happened with the Cardinal?"

"I don't know."

"What? What do you mean you don't know?"

"You probably know don't you."

"Don't play that game with me Pontus."

"Fine I'll tell you."

I sat down on a chair as I listened.

"I checked your flow of blood but I couldn't sense any attobots."

"So you're saying I destroyed them?"

"Obviously not. Your mana destroyed them. I'll give you a new Cardinal, a much more stronger one."

A blue owl came through the window and landed on Pontus's head.

"Your mana beast, what class is he?" I asked as he injected the more stronger Cardinal inside me.

"Apocalyptic. Your class is getting yours tomorrow."

"Nice to know."

"Ok you're done now try."

"Status Open"

A holographic screen showed up infront of me.

Name: ???

Rank: ???

Race: ???

Decuria: Mage, ???, ???

Age: 16

Element/s: Void, ???, ???...

Abilities:

???

"Looks like it's working."

"Ok, go back to class."

As I walked back to class I saw a familiar silhouette at the end of the hallway. I continued walking but the silhouette stood still.

"Who are you?"

"You'll find out eventually."

With that the silhouette disappeared. What the f*ck? What was that? Who is that? As I entered the classroom I felt eyes stare into me as I walked to my row.

"Now who knows how many tiers of magical spells are there?"

"There 18 regular tiers and the some of the others have special names for them."

"Correct again Titania. The other 5 are too powerful and are so rare that none of 5 have been conjured since the Thousands War."

The Thousands War. A hell full of the smell of blood. All because of the humans. Well it was fun while it lasted.

I looked around the class and in the corner of my eye I saw it. Latrodectus Hasselti. A true horror. One of the deadliest creatures to over set foot on a piece of existence. I panicked so I conjured a destructive spell. The spell not only destroyed the Latrodectus Hasselti without a trace but also punched a hold in the planet and neighboring planets. It was only after the adrenaline rush ended that I realised what I did. Shit. The students looked at me in horror.

"A 10th tier spell. WTF"

"10th tier! That's far beyond his rank. That should've took his whole life's worth of mana. 10¹⁸ to be exact!" Hestia said.

Another one. No. More Latrodectus Hasseltis showed up. Big ones. Why aren't any of the other students reacting. The adrenaline kicked in again and I fired five of the spells I did before. The sky could be seen from the classroom as the roof had holes in it.

"HOW?! FIVE MORE! HE'S DEFINITELY NOT A SSS RANK!"

Shit! I blew my cover. All the Latrodectus Hasseltis' faults.

"Laertes Adynamos. I would like a word with you. Wait in the Headmaster's office."

Shit!

After a few minutes

I waited with Pontus. I played games on my phone as I waited, however I could see Pontus's PC from the corner of my eye.

"That's not work."

"Shut up child! Do not interfere with an adult's life."

"Adult? You have to be joking, there's no way with your number of years you can't call yourself an adult. You've transcended the concept of that term."

"QUIET CHILD! LIKE YOU CAN SPEA-"

"Let's get on with it then."

Finally she's here. I put down my phone to hear what she said.

"How is it that you can conjure 10th tier spells while only being an SSS Rank not to mention you conjured six 10th tier spells and five of them were conjured together?"

"Yeah I can do that."

Lamia showed confusion on levels I would not understand.

"You can do that?"

"Yeah."

"Did you know about this Headmaster?"

"No."

"Really?"

"No."

"So you did know?"

"Basically, yeah."

"Anyways you'll be promoted to Hydra rank. You will also pay 5,000 Elarium for the damages. Also can I see your Cardinal."

Ahh shit.

"Status Open"

Name: Laertes Adynamos

Rank: Hydra

Race: Demon

Decuria: Mage

Age: 16

Element/s: Void

"So what was the spell?"

"Dragon's Breath. It's basically a beam."

"I see. You can go now."

"Okay."

As I proceeded to leave the room I felt Lamia stare daggers at me. Now that that's done I can finally go back. I checked the time. Yes! Finally! Lunchtime!
