The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Life Force, Composition

Leus ate some food, today's dish was (Smoked Salmon Pasta with Crispy Capers)

'Always things I've never heard of, but they're so damn tasty.'

After he was done, he got up and entered the Barrier

'Time to get to the bottom of this Abstract'

This time, things were different from the usual.

Leus always had a very detailed idea of what he wanted to unlock, be it a new element, spell, or Abstract.

But now he simply had no clue what this unlocked, he only had a very rough idea about it.

'I know that it's related to Life Force, but I have no idea of the details'

And that's what he is about to find out right now.

Leus closed his eyes and directed his perception on his body.

He imagined as if he was watching himself from a third-person view, from above, and then he dived down and entered his body.

Leus actually had no idea that he was capable of doing that, he only instinctively felt that this was what he had to do if he wanted to understand more about the Abstract, so he did it.

The results were

'Fascinating'

Leus knew that he had a perception, and he felt it get stronger every time he unlocked an Abstract, but he never actually used it.

'I wonder what exactly it is? Is it some sort of a mind power or something?'

Nevertheless, Leus' perception was now inside his body, he was able to navigate through his body as he pleased.

So, he got to work.

' ... I see'

Leus saw things that he didn't know what it was, but his mind did.

It took him a couple of seconds to put his situation into words.

'So basically, an Abstract is like a guidebook, and once I comprehend that guidebook, my mind automatically knows its content and knows the answers to the questions regarding everything in the book.

All I have to do is think about it then I will know the answer if it's within the guidebook.'

It was like a code.

On the outside, the code was simply a bunch of random letters and numbers.

Even if you were the one who created the code, if you tried to read it directly then you wouldn't understand anything because the code itself wasn't coherent.

However, if you knew what the code represented, then it'd all make sense.

This is exactly what was happening to Leus right now.

He was seeing things that seemingly didn't make any sense, but because he had comprehended what they represented, he completely understood it.

Leus' perception navigated toward his heart.

There, he sensed a big ball of bright light located precisely inside the heart.

'That's a ball of Life Force, it constitutes 70% of the total Life Force in my body'

Leus instinctively knew where the other 30% were

'25% of it is in the mind and the remaining 5% is roaming the body and being constantly consumed'

Leus got an idea

'I want to try something'

He knew exactly what would happen, but he still wanted to see it happen.

His eyes shot open and he unsheathed his sword.

He extended his left hand forward and flipped it, then he swiftly injured the top of his left palm.

It was a long cut, but after all that Leus went through to unlock his Abstracts in the Library, his pain tolerance had gone up by a lot and he hardly felt anything.

He closed his eyes, directed his perception back inside his body, and began watching.

It was captivating

Leus was able to see the roaming 5% of his Life Force gather and go toward the back of his left palm.

There, the Life Force started consuming itself to heal the injury.

A couple of minutes passed like this.

The amount of Life Force consumed was barely 0.25% of Leus' total Life Force, but he was able to perceive it, which is what mattered.

'I can cut a bigger cut and watch all the 5% get consumed, but why would I do that?'

Leus wasn't interested in feeling pain, he wasn't a masochist. Nor would he gain anything out of the experience, it would only cause him pain and waste his time.

After the tiny portion of his Life Force was consumed, Leus perceived his heart releasing an equal portion of the consumed Life Force to the body, bringing back the amount of Life Force in the body to 5%, but reducing the amount of Life Force in the heart to below 70%.

After his heart was done releasing Life Force to the body, its pulse rate increased by just a tiny bit and its generation rate of Life Force increased by just a bit.

'... I see'

Many things made sense now

'So that's why Elites only die if you destroy either their heart or brain'

'If the heart is destroyed, then the body can no longer be sustained; No Life Force will be generated and the body will die.'

'As for the brain, it's a bit complicated.'

Leus knew the exact answer as soon as he thought of the question, his mind just knew the answer

'It actually depends on how much of the brain is destroyed'

'The brain is a critical and complex organ, if it's partially destroyed then the heart would consume as much Life Force as it can to regenerate it.

If the amount of damage is small then the heart would fix it without any problems.

However, if it's too severe, then the heart will consume all of its Life Force in attempting to save it, resulting in its eventual death.'

Leus also knew another fact

'Any damage to the brain, even if it's not much, would weaken the body a lot'

'The reason for that is that once the brain is damaged then the Life Force stored in it (About 25% of the body's Life Force) will simply leak out, causing a huge strain on the heart and the body as a whole.'

'The speed of the heart's generation to Life Force depends on the state of the body.

If the body is being consistently injured then it wouldn't be able to store any Life Force and would spend all of it sustaining life'

'So a person would need to rest to allow the heart to heal the body'

'Interesting'

Just now, Leus wondered if he could increase the total amount of Life Force in his body

And the answer was intriguing
