The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Exiting Seclusion

Leus spent the first three days inside the Barrier putting all his focus on keeping an illusion of a single ring active indefinitely.

'I need to stop the Light Mana from scattering, then I'll move to the next step.'

Leus' idea was to break the Abstract into small steps and slowly unlock it step by step

'I think this way will be more effective as I will gradually improve my mastery over mana'

'Also, it's not like I have any other ideas.'

It took some effort, but eventually, he was able to do it.

After he finished his first step he began comparing the training process of Abstracts to that of Spells

'Apart from the obvious difference which is the fact that Abstracts consume far less Mana, I think the difference between mastering silently casting spells and learning Abstracts is that Abstracts give you an innate superpower that you can use anytime or that is always active like Domain, like learning a technique.'

Leus then moved to the second step, creating multiple rings at the same time, which proved to be much more difficult

'I have to focus on simultaneously stopping each ring's mana from scattering away, if it's a single body then it's much easier.'

Leus' guess was that creating an illusion of a single big body would be easier than creating multiple illusions of small bodies, as it takes more concentration.

'Which is why I have to keep following my plan.

If I manage to display 10 rings then it should be very easy to create a single hand, from there, I can slowly increase the size until I can create an entire body.'

Leus continued with his relentless training, his desire for power became immense after the last incident, and he really didn't want to waste time.

Leus slept inside the Barrier about 4 times since he entered it, and the sleep was REALLY amazing.

He didn't know, but the first time he slept was for 16 hours straight.

Whenever he felt thirsty he'd cast Water, and he ignored his hunger until he reached his limit.

'The next time I enter I need to take a couple of meals with me'

After about 4 weeks of staying inside the Barrier, Leus was able to simultaneously create 15 illusions of rings.

His original plan was to move on to something else after he learned to control 10, but he later changed it

'I feel that I'm reaching my limit and I'll leave soon, so instead of starting something new and stopping in the middle, I should increase my mastery over what I already know, and the next time begin the third step.'

An unknown amount of days after Leus entered, he finally decided to leave.

His evaluation of the session was

'An amazing success.'

'I feel that I've already comprehended about 60-65% of the Abstract, if I keep up like this, I'll unlock it the next time I enter'

Leus' guess was that he spent around 2 weeks inside the Barrier.

But he was about to find out the truth.

Leus put his hand on the Magic Circle and added Mana into it, and about 5 seconds later, half of the Library lit brightly for a second.

It was the effect of all the Light Mana escaping the barrier and dispersing in the atmosphere.

Everyone inside was taken aback ... for about three seconds.

Very quickly, everyone continued doing what they were doing.

Almost everyone in the library was either a Mage or a Magic Scholar, with the exception of the Guards and a couple of students or book buyers, everyone had a rough idea about what could've happened.

'Either a spell or a failed experiment'

The concept of someone unlocking an Abstract within a barrier wasn't unheard of, but who in this place could afford it?

Such pursuits were typically associated with the well-off, affluent inhabitants of the Capital or the exceptionally talented individuals residing in the Red Mansion.

Moreover, such endeavors required considerable discipline, self-control, and mental strength. As a result, the idea went unnoticed by the majority.

As soon as the Barrier was deactivated, the feelings of tranquillity and peace disappeared, and the feelings of pain, sorrow, and anger slowly began to return, albeit much fainter than before he entered.

Leus shook his head

'No need to think about all this, I got things to do'

Leus removed his blindfold,

it took a couple of seconds for his vision to clear up.

'Ahh, It's so nice to be able to see again'

He placed the blindfold on the desk and entered the bathroom to take a shower, then went to his room to change.

After he was done, he exited the training room and looked around him.

'Evening'

The Library buzzed with activity.

A few astute individuals managed to link the sudden appearance of the Emblem's Holder to the earlier Light Mana incident, casting intrigued glances his way. Apart from that, everything was as usual.

Leus walked towards Arno's desk and to Leus' surprise Arno wasn't reading a book.

When Leus got close enough Arno said

"Hmm, Your Aura calmed"

".... Is that good?"

"Yeah. As I expected, The Light helped you cope with your situation.

Your aura didn't change, but instead of being extreme it became moderate."

Leus didn't reply, He instead thought to himself

'I have no idea what that means, but his first word gave me the answer I needed.'

When Leus didn't reply Arno changed the topic

"How much do you think you mastered?"

"60%"

Arno's mouth became O shaped and he praised Leus

"Oow, Even in your unstable state you focused on learning?

I expected you to spend half the time inside just enjoying the feeling"

"I'm not a child..."

Arno snickered

"Aren't you? Oh well ..."

Leus sighed and changed the subject

"I will go home"

Arno nodded

"You might want to speak with the Guards, your mother came a couple of times last week."

Leus' heart skipped a beat hearing that

"Mom? Why? Everything is okay?"

Arno replied nonchalantly

"Yeah, you just took a little too much time inside"

"A little too much? How many days?"

Arno smirked.
