After a few seconds of silence, Blaze spoke about a different matter

"I have talked with Amethyst and Merlin about their future"

Leus became interested

'It's important to know that, I want to help in any way if it's possible'

If there was any way for him to make them happier at least a little, he wouldn't hesitate for a second

"How did it go?"

"Amethyst is now 12, this is usually the age at which children are sent to Magic Academies and such, so I spoke with her about it.

She is not interested.

She said that she wants to be a housewife like her mother, the only spell she is interested in is the Water spell Viorica uses."

Leus wasn't surprised to hear that

'Huh, I guess it makes sense, Amethyst spends most of her time with mom, no wonder she wants to be like her...'

'Well, it doesn't matter. If she changes her mind in the future then I'll do my best to help her.'

'After she becomes older, I'll teach her a couple of Water spells like Hydraulic for self-defense, and if that leads her to be interested in magic or anything, I'll see what I can do then.'

There was no need to pressurize her now, after all

'She's just a 12 years old kid'

Leus nodded to Blaze and asked

"I see, and Merlin?"

"He wants to be a knight"

The answer was a bit vague so Leus asked

"Knight? As in level or job?"

Blaze chuckled

"I didn't ask, but he probably wants to be an Elite Knight like me. He became much more serious about it since the time he saw Felix's armor."

"Hmm, how difficult is that?"

"Well, he's still a Mortal, so he will need a lot of training, and I can't train him forever.

I'm also not an expert, I'm planning to send him to the Knight School, they have specific exercises and diets for kids his age.

Their methods maximize the efficiency of the training.

It'll be more productive and make him evolve faster than he would by training with me"

"That sounds good, are there any problems with that?"

"No, it's in this Duchy, so it isn't an issue, I can afford it.

I just might need to spend more time in the military, especially because Viorica wants another baby."

Leus became silent for a bit, then he spoke in a serious tone

"There's something I'm worried about regarding that"

"Hmm? What is it?"

"Mom's last birth was complicated, right? She needed months to get better.

What if something like that happens again?"

Blaze was surprised by how far ahead Leus thought

'Sometimes, it doesn't feel like I'm speaking to a child at all.'

However, he didn't show his surprise and answered Leus

"We discussed that. The first two times were fine, only yours was complicated, so we hope that the next time will be fine as well.

But we are ready if things go the other way.

Now that Amethyst doesn't want to go to an Academy, the money which I prepared for that will be kept aside for the birth, so things should be fine."

Leus replied absentmindedly

"I see"

His mind was busy thinking about different things

'Based on my last interaction with Remedy, I'm not sure if she will help if anything happens. If she doesn't want to come, no amount of money will matter'

Leus sighed

'I'm not going to bet my mother's well-being on Remedy's mood'

'I'm strong now, but why take any risks? I don't want to regret anything later'

'The best thing to do would be to become an Elite myself, then I will be as powerful as her, her existence won't make a difference.'

'Mom isn't pregnant yet, so I have at the very least 9 more months.

If I push myself, then I might be able to do it.

I need to be done with the last two Abstracts quickly, after that, I'll focus solely on unlocking my Skill.'

Leus vowed to do his best to become an Elite as quickly as possible.

His resolve to become stronger became even stronger, he was determined.

'I don't want to depend on anyone to save the life of my loved ones, Remedy, Arno, or even Ignatius himself, I want to be in control of what happens around me. My life belongs to me, my loved ones are MY responsibility. I'll take care of it'

Blaze noticed Leus' serious expression and stayed silent

'He's probably thinking about something important, if he needs to talk he will talk'

So Blaze just waited.

Eventually, Leus spoke

"When are you planning to go back to the Military?"

"I'm waiting for Arno, after whatever he wants me to do is over, and after your matters are settled, I'll see if Merlin is ready to go to the Knight School.

A bit of time after that I'll go.

When are you expecting to be done with the last remaining Abstracts?"

"Less than two months, maybe a month and a half"

Blaze nodded

"Then I'll probably go after two or two and a half months"

"Alright"

"By the way, Leus, you said you're leaving tomorrow, where are you going?"

"I'm going to my friends in the Slums, I want to see how things are going there."

'I also need to re-fill their potions ... and I'm not sure if they need more bricks'

But he didn't say that to Blaze

Blaze nodded

"Fine then, but don't be late, come in the morning so we can go to Felix on time."

"Yes Dad, don't worry about it"

"It's late, how about you have some sleep?"

Leus wordlessly nodded, he was already tired.

They both went inside, and as soon as Leus put his head on the pillow he slept.

The next day, Viorica woke Leus up for breakfast.

They asked him again if he wanted to come to choose his clothes, but he refused saying

"Just buy me anything"

He never really cared about such matters.

And after telling him countless times to come back on time, Viorica let him leave the house.
