Simple is often the best way to do it. I decided to actually sleep the rest of the night while I waited for the raid to come. I guess I shouldn't have let my guard down. I'd just assumed I would be left alone now that Vernon's plan was finally going to happen.

I flinched back as pain seared into my face just below my right eye. My eyes snapped open as my tail lashed out in the direction of the attack. I felt my tail connected with someone's midsection as they were thrown back into the wall of the warehouse with enough force to leave a person sized ding in the cheap metal wall. I growled at Vernon as a pulse of pain shot through my cheek. My belly came off the ground as my limbs tense.

Oddly enough I didn't smell any blood even though I was definitely in enough pain to suggest that I'd been cut. My temper flared as I rushed toward Vernon. Part of me wanted to blast him with lightning or fire. Burn him up so there was nothing left. I knew I couldn't do that right now though.

In the middle of the guild settlement was the absolute worst place to kill a human right now. I wanted the guild's trust. Not their hatred. Vernon didn't deserve to be remembered as a hero just because he'd been killed by me. I wanted him to die the ridiculous traitor he was.

My teeth slid through my gums easily. Clicking against each other quietly as my murderous intent filled the space around us. Sure I might not be able to kill him here, and now, but there was no way in hell I was going to let him off easy. I surged forward. Slamming into his chest with a simple headbutt.

My horns collided with his neck, and face as I pushed him through the warehouse's cheap metal paneling as if it were made of wet toilet paper. Vernon flew away from the hole in the wall, and rolled on the pavement a few times. I knew I wouldn't be able to pull my head back through the wall without destroying it even more so I didn't bother trying to keep the damage to a minimum. I pushed my way through the hole I'd already made. A low growl rumbled down my throat.

Making my teeth rattle against each other from the force of the growl. My hostility peaked as Vernon slowly drug himself off the ground. I had to give that asshole credit for armoring up, but I didn't see any pain on his face. That meant his ability had to have something to do with reinforcing the body. I whipped his feet out from under him with the tip of my tail.

Knocking him on his ass easily enough. Vernon didn't find it nearly as amusing as I did as he scrambled back to his feet. Another flick of my tail sent him tumbling back down just as easily. I didn't need to put effort into killing him. My wings flared as I tried to use the amusement I felt from watching Vernon flounder to cool my heated temper.

I licked the back of my teeth casually as I thought about actually taking a bite of him. I knew my teeth were more than capable of cutting through that armor easily. My rage flared as he stood up again. Plus I was kind of curious what person tasted like. The part of me that remembered what it felt like to be a human was repulsed by this thought.

The other part couldn't find a good reason not to at least try out the meat in front of me. Vernon started trying to scramble to his feet again. I slammed my tail into the pavement barely two inches from hitting him. Leaving a large gouge in the pavement right next to his leg. Vernon skittered away from me like a bug in danger of getting crushed.

My tail slammed down on the pavement again. Only this time it was between his legs. Less then an inch from his tender bits. It didn't matter in I was a dragon. I was still male.

There was no forgetting what it felt like to have your tender bits smashed into oblivion, or the fear that came with that danger. Vernon froze after I threatened his unmentionables. The low growl that had been emanating from my throat since the beginning became a frozen scowl. Dead silence surrounded the darkened surroundings. Vernon was too terrified to move anymore.

I stalked my way over to his, and dropped my right hand down on his chest. Pushing my nose in close so he got a good look at my face. My teeth were practically touching him. My nose was so close I could taste his breath each time I inhaled. A strong hit slammed into my neck.

Jerking my head to the side along with a large portion of my neck. The sound of cannons going off made me tense. I was hit three times in the right side. It happened so fast that I didn't even know what had happened until I'd been thrown off my feet. My scales gouged into the pavement as I was knocked onto my side.

Chains wrapped around my body quickly. Holding my mouth shut to start with. Then coiling around me bit by bit until it restricted my movement completely. My mana lashed out creating trails of lightning all around me that shot down the chains to the people holding them. Knocking then onto their asses with that little jolt.

I knocked most of the chains off in the moment they let go. Recoiling away from the people that were trying to tie me down. I didn't want to fight these people. They were my future allies after all.

"What the hell are you people doing?" Ethan's rage flowed into me.

Ethan's eyes glowed blue as the dragon mark lit up on his neck. Ethan moved with speed, and power equal to my own as he knocked away every single person that was trying to pin me down. I could feel his exhaustion wearing him down. It wasn't deep enough that he wouldn't be able to recover from it quickly with a nap. Ethan's glowing eyes, and the powerful air around him was enough to stop anyone else from approaching.
