He looked out over the battlefield with a sad expression. He held out his hand slowly. The mana that gathered around that open outstretched hand was terrifying. I could feel the blood draining from my face. Many of the humans around me looked just as pale as I was.

The fact that the magicless humans around me could also feel the power that he was emitting was a reason to be concerned. He clenched his fist suddenly. All the elves on the battlefield died as they were torn apart by a spatial anomaly focused on them alone. Each one of them was torn apart by their own spatial anomaly. He'd created dozens of spatial anomalies in the same area.

The power required to do something like that was insane. He opened his hand, and raised it. All of my human allies floated up slowly. Dozens of portals opened up, and all but one of them were teleported away. I found myself alone.

Surrounded by enemies as Magnus was pulled toward the man. They floated down to the wall I was leaned against, and I felt his eyes on me again. The eyes of a dragon. As soon as Magnus's feet touched the ground he was slammed down under gravity too strong for him to move.

"Stay," The man smirked as he left Magnus pinned there.

Disappearing into a portal only to reappear near the white haired man. The white haired man burst like a water balloon, and was thrown to the side so that the black haired man could walk past him. The humanoid lizard like creature with wings that had appeared on the battlefield jumped at him. He grabbed the creature's hands, and power surged from him into the creature. The creature went slack.

The gentle way the man cradled it was gentle. As if he were cradling a child. The beast began to shrink slowly. Wings merging back into his back as the creature slowly returned to being a person. Ethan was easily recognizable now that he'd returned to his human body.

His hair was still dark blue like his scales had been as he was laid down gently. The white haired man slowly reformed back to his normal human shape. I shrunk down slowly as I tried to figure out where the dragon was watching me from. The man turned to look at me, and the pressure of being watched by the dragon increased ten fold. The man appeared right in front of me.

He grabbed my throat, and lifted me up to my full height with ease. His hand felt more like solid iron as it wrapped around my throat. His skin was surprisingly soft. He cocked his head as he looked me up, and down.

"You're not human," he stated bluntly, "But you're not an elf either." he sounded almost thoughtful, "A half breed?"

Mana surged into my body painfully. It felt as if needles were working their way through me as he let me fall to the ground. It was incredibly painful, but I'd felt worse before. Once the pain finished working its way through me it vanished. My body suddenly felt much lighter as if I'd been restored.

"What did you do?" I stood up.

"I wanted to see what you really look like," he smirked at me.

His teeth had sharpened. His pupils turning more catlike as he looked me over in more detail. My hand went to my ear. The point was back. My ribs weren't broken anymore.

My entire body had been healed. Anger surged through me. I was confused by this anger. I was the one that wanted these points back. Why was I angry?

"You hate them don't you?" he spoke to me.

He was right. I did hate them.

"How many humans did they take?" he asked me.

"Thousands," I sneered, "That I know of. They started breeding them like cattle. They're slaves."

"Including your mother," he smirked at me as he held up the gem that pulsed in time with my mother's heart.

I reached for it. He'd taken it out of my pocket somehow.

"Do you want to get her back?" his smirk turned to a smile.

"You can't do that," I almost laughed, "You're not strong enough. They'd pick you out with ease."

"Give me a year," he gripped my shoulder, "I'll show you what a dragon is capable of."

I looked at him with a slight frown. Was he out of his mind? He seemed to understand the disbelief on my face. His aura rolled out around me. Having the full aura of a dragon right on top of me was enough to make me feel like I was being crushed alive.

Just how powerful was he? I couldn't look away from the dragon. He was the dragon. There was no more denying it. He was one of the most powerful beings I'd ever been in contact with.

He might be able to do it. He might be able to save them. It was the first time I'd ever believed that I could truthfully be free. This casually powerful being made me believe. I squashed that hope before it could reach my eyes.

My eyes went down, and focused on his neck. I couldn't look him in the eye anymore. That little bit of hope might make it to my eyes if I kept looking him in the eye. I realized it then. He'd withdrawn his aura.

He wasn't threatening me in any way. He was asking. I didn't know how to deal with this kind of approach. I was used to being threatened. He hadn't done that.

He'd asked. He let go of me, and walked over to where he had Magnus pinned. I couldn't even think straight at the moment. I wasn't a threat. He knew that with a glance.

The gravity pinning Magnus down suddenly let up. Magnus sprung up as fast as his body would allow, and rushed at the dragon. The dragon didn't even try to defend himself. Magnus lashed out with fire only for it to slide off the dragon without harming him in the slightest. The dragon grabbed his fist before it could hit him.
