I rewarded her with some proper scratching after I retrieved her prize. I was a little worried about her core getting tainted now that we were on earth, but it appeared that her proximity to me was keeping her pretty healthy. I was also worried about her age. She was old for a wyvern. She couldn't fly as long as some of the others.

She was one of the reasons we needed to stop so often. Leaving her behind wasn't a good option though. There was a high risk of her eating someone while I was gone. Unlike the younger ones she had gotten in a habit of eating things that were human shaped. She was too old to break of the nasty habit, and I wasn't willing to kill her.

I kind of liked having a pet. Even if I had something as pathetic as a dog I would still need to keep an eye on it, and train it properly. I definitely didn't want something as frail as a dog. Having a pet I could crush with one hand just wasn't that appealing to me. I stretched slowly.

Cracking a few kinks out of my long spine as I looked at Letty. He was looking at me like he was planning on causing some trouble. Which meant I was going to get sent on another insane training exercise. I wanted to argue with him on it, but the exercises were helping. My mana control across the board was getting more precise.

Many of my elements, and spells were starting to feel natural. The more natural my spells felt the more I was able to use them properly. It was the practice I needed that I hadn't been getting. I snorted to myself. I'd come up with a few dozen spells while I was on the elven planet, but I hadn't been able to apply any of them in a real world setting.

Sure my inner world was good for testing my ideas for spells, but that didn't tell my how much such magic would drain me. It didn't tell me what the negative effects on my body would be if I overextended. I dove right into the task at hand. There were three portals in the deep depths that he wanted me to seal up. The three of them were very large.

Which explained the increase in magical beasts around the ship. None of them were particularly powerful, but they were many in number. I dove off the ship, and sank through the waves as half a dozen beasts rushed me all at once. I swam down deep as fast as I could. The beasts were like a hybrid between crocodile, and piranha.

The jaws of a croc, and the body of the piranha. Normally I wouldn't think that such a combination would work well, but their teeth vibrated. Allowing them to cut through flesh much tougher then what would normally be possible. Some of my wyverns were going to need healing after this. Good thing Aurora had stayed back.

She could heal me too when I got back. I would have smirked at the lewd thoughts going through my mind at what else we might do together when I got back if I didn't have three little monsters attached to my wing. I rolled in the water. Shredding them into little strips of flesh that were a bit to raw to be called jerky. I snarled sending a trial of bubbles up behind me as I descended.

I was told not to attack with physical force, and to only use the fire element to attack this time. He hadn't asked me to use fire so far because it didn't really work with water. I think he did on purpose to give me some time to properly adjust to using magic again. I didn't know how to use flames beneath water. What could I do?

This was an annoying problem that I needed to solve. Should I run or should I stop, and figure out a way to solve my problem. I needed to stay near the portals to close them. It took me nearly a minute per portal. That was better then it had been before, but it was still a nuisance.

I flared my wings to slow myself down as I got to the bottom. I was irritated. The swarm came down on me. They clearly wanted to rip me to pieces, but they wouldn't get what they wanted from me. I was made of the toughest material on earth so they didn't stand much of a chance.

Letty would know if I broke his little rules, and so far they hadn't been able to do much more then scratch my scales. They had put a few almost imperceptible cuts on my wing membranes. They weren't any more dangerous then paper cuts so beyond the slight sting of saltwater in the wound I was doing pretty good. I lashed out with a wave of fire. Attempting to attack them with fire as I was told. The water hissed as my flames were immediately put out.

I expected this kind of outcome, but that didn't make it any less irritating. I slipped through the beasts grip easily. Lashing out again with even hotter flames. I was getting tired of my flames being put out by the water. Wasn't underwater welding a thing?

Lava didn't go out simply because it was in water. Maybe there was a certain temperature I had to meet before it would work. I roared. Releasing a blast of powerful white hot flames. Those flames shot through the water nearly thirty feet.

Killing everything they touched. Heat of the flame was important for the flames to burn. They had to be hot enough to evaporate the water off of the flames. Finding that temperature was the hard part. The whole time I was funneling divine energy into my soul blade.

I'd been at it for weeks. The sight of Letty's soul blade was what inspired me to push more energy in my divine into the blade. It was something different. Fusing with your soul blade. Turning yourself into the weapon.
