The Lake Erivnira

"So, you came to help me?"

"Yes."

"How?"

"Believe me, I know that you are not capable of traveling across this land on your own. If you do not like me following you, I'll leave."

Lila sighed. "Fine, you can stay."

"Miss, that was not to persuade you. I repeat, if you do not like me following you, I will leave."

Lila stuttered, "No, don't!"

Keienia frowned. "Seems like you've made up your mind."

Lila pursed her lips. "I have."

"For what? You surely haven't decided how to cross the Erivnira."

Lila groaned. "You're right. I haven't. I've only made up my mind for if you're going to come with me or not. But how am I supposed to cross the lake?

Keienia grinned. "Follow me." She strode confidently to the bank of the lake.

"What are we going to do?" Lila inquired nervously, her voice trembling with fear. She peered into the depths of the lake. "It seems pretty deep."

"Miss, we won't touch the water," Keienia reassured her.

Lila was stunned. "But—" she spluttered. "I don't know how to float!"

Keienia responded calmly, "Miss, I will fly you across." She held out her hand for Lila.

Lila hesitated and slowly moved her hand. But before she could, an invisible force pulled her deep into the water. She sank deeper and deeper into the water.

The icy water around her as warm as the rays of the sun. Her body was moving of its own accord.

Lila could feel as if there was an unknown energy inside her forcing to practice the same movements as before in all the visions and dreams.

She could picture every move in front of her eyes, like she was watching from a different perspective.

Then, other people started appearing one by one. They. were too practicing the odd movements.

The first figure was a boy in his early teens, no older than she was.

The second one was a young woman with silvery, sleek hair. Her eyes never seemed to move, as if she was blind.

The third and fourth were younger brother and elder sister and were also mythical creatures: demons. Their left eye was black, while their right eye was red, and although most legends refer demons as evil, greedy, creatures, these two were kind-hearted, especially the brother.

The four others were in an arch—a circle—and Lila was part of the circle.

She recognized them. Sister Iraliyn and the others from her supposed-to-be-real dream.

Their left feet pressed against a force in the water, their arms were in a formation.

All five of them flipped over to the left like a cartwheel but not exactly. Lila's hands and feet traced silver lines in the water.

They continued moving in harmony.

Lila noticed something. All four of them had the same hairpin/thread wrapped around their front hair.

Then, they all disappeared, one by one, until Lila herself woke up on the shore.

She brushed away the sand and stood up. "We crossed the lake."

Keienia glared at her. "No, I did, not you."

Lila shrugged. "Same difference."

Keienia sighed but ignored the matter.

They continued walking in the direction of the mountin. Suddenly, a slit appeared in the ground in front of them. It slowly grew to become a large crack—maybe even an abyss.

Lila stumbled back. "What's that?" she shrieked.

Eee! Eee! Birds started screaming in the distance.

Keienia's eyes widened as the noise continued. "Uh-oh."

"What?" questioned Lila. "What's happening?!"

"I'll tell you once we land!"

"In the bottom of the world?!"

"Technically, yes!"

Keienia jumped into the crack.

Lila stared around in fright and finally threw herself after Keienia. "I hope you know what you're doing!" she shouted.
