The Apostate in Grim Fantasy

To be a light in the dark. A man lacking in faith dies in a society where religion has fallen to Atheism, and is reborn in a dark fantasy where a mysterious dark fog threatens all. . . . For a mark of a cross ordains his hand, he is an Apostle to a God unknown to this world. (Original title was 'The Apostate,' but the name was taken already) Author’s Note: It could have worked for any religion or a made up religion, but I know Christianity better so it centers around it. The story about an apostle in a dark fantasy was something on my mind for a while.

Chapter 17: Interlude (Sophia)

Sophia was no fool. No matter how subtle Noah was being, there was no way she wouldn't have noticed his actions at her level.

Watching Noah reproduce Martin's own swordsmanship with relative ease, she grew more certain about what she saw.

Noah stole Martin's mana and assimilated it with his own.

Two words instantly came to Sophia's mind pertaining to her knowledge of other Noble Families with skills and abilities that acted as the pillars of Aletera. In particular, one bloodline trait was the most renowned and coveted of the inner families of the capital city.

Mana Eater.

Narrowing her eyes, Sophia felt a burst of unease sink her stomach.

Lambert?

But it was impossible. It made no sense. There was no way an awakened Lambert would be here, and not heavily invested into by the main family. Moreover, not all were skilled enough to implement their family's flagship trait with such ease at a young age except for-

Sophia hummed, but the person she was thinking of didn't possess a white coloured mana.

Then if not Lambert…?

Could it be a new variant?

If Everbright could assimilate it...

A swell of excitement overtook Sophia's prior unease. She'd have to observe further.

Sophia softened her expression while watching Martin's complexion quickly deteriorate from disbelief and unwillingness.

Sorry, a shorter chapter this time since its been a pretty hectic week for me.
