9 Chapter 9: Venom's Memories

After leaving Spider-Man's body, Venom began to constantly transfer and search for a new host.

Finally, in a chance encounter, Venom, possessing a cat, saw Maverick riding a motorcycle.

The aura emanating from Maverick made Venom realize that he might be the suitable host.

So it manipulated the cat to jump directly onto Maverick as he passed by, and quickly and discreetly transferred to Maverick's body in the middle.

Once on Maverick's body, the feeling of compatibility made Venom feel relieved; it no longer had to transfer around and could stay stable on one person.

After a while, Venom started salivating at Maverick's bodily organs. What a healthy body; it could finally have a good meal.

But before it could happily continue start absorbing, Maverick's abnormal bodily condition began to manifest.

After Venom had absorbed just enough energy to barely sustain itself, Maverick's body seemed to automatically activate a defense system, preventing it from absorbing any more energy, as further absorption would affect Maverick's health.

Venom had transferred through many bodies before but encountered such a situation for the first time. Despite numerous attempts, it reluctantly accepted this strange defense mechanism.

But not being able to satisfy its hunger indefinitely wasn't a sustainable solution. So it thought about going out to find food for itself. However, when it tried to leave Maverick's body, it was as if this body had turned into a solid prison, trapping it inside. It couldn't get out.

It couldn't even communicate with the host, something it had never experienced before. This change frightened Venom like never before.

After all, it had possessed bodies countless times, either directly controlling the dominant consciousness of ordinary people or animals, then switching hosts when the body couldn't bear it.

Except for encounters with very powerful hosts like Spider-Man, where it would obediently behave in the early stages but still influence the host behind the scenes.

Encountering a situation where it couldn't satisfy its hunger, couldn't escape, and couldn't communicate was a first for Venom.

Maverick's immense mental power, subconsciously activated, acted like an unreasonable prison guard, completely depriving Venom of its freedom and ability to absorb energy.

Venom was like a welfare recipient, just maintaining itself in a state of starvation until, before the accident, it sensed danger, and Maverick's intense mental fluctuations gave Venom an opportunity, allowing it to laboriously have its first conversation with its host.

Before, Venom had to exert all its effort just to briefly warn Maverick to be careful in his mind. So when it heard Maverick finally responding to its words, it was almost moved to tears. It had been so difficult.

Finally, after Maverick agreed to accept its existence, Venom felt a bit less constrained, but the bottom line was still not being able to harm the host's physical health.

That's why now it appeared and started scavenging for food everywhere; it was absolutely starving.

When Maverick opened his eyes again after browsing through all the memories, Venom was in the process of swallowing all the fruits and snacks lying next to it, packaging and all.

"Fortunately, there's a piece of expired chocolate in the cabinet; otherwise, I'd still be starving," Venom said, licking its large mouth with its crimson elongated tongue upon seeing Maverick open his eyes.

After opening his eyes, Maverick pondered for a moment and then raised the question he had just thought of after reviewing the memories.

"I remember before, your personality was chaotic and evil due to the influence of the host, but now you don't seem to be like that. What's going on? Will you turn into that after a while, and is your current behavior just to gain my trust?"

Upon hearing such a direct suspicion, Venom returned from the nearby table to face Maverick.

"This change is also thanks to your uniqueness. Your immense mental power washed away all the evil and chaos I had previously been tainted with, just like washing clothes," Venom explained.

"Although I suffered a lot during this time in your body, the benefits I've gained are unexpected and considerable," it continued.

"Now, I've rid myself of the influence of those negative emotions and am a completely new, unprecedentedly good symbiote." (A/N: Source; trust me bro)

After saying all this, Venom approached Maverick's shoulder and said in a deep voice, "I know it will take time for you to accept my existence, but you can let go of those guards and doubts you have against me."

"You already know what a symbiote is, so you should understand that we are now one. If you die, I will die too."

"We are the closest comrades and partners, just like your limbs or other organs, except they don't speak, and I do."

Listening to Venom's sincere words, Maverick suppressed the uncomfortable feeling in his heart. Indeed, as it said, a symbiote would never harm its chosen host.

Those behaviors of amplifying emotions to absorb energy wouldn't cost the host's life either; it would only deepen their symbiotic relationship, making the host unable to live without the symbiote.

Not to mention, now Venom couldn't excessively absorb energy due to the uniqueness of Maverick's body.

"Oh, by the way, you've been mentioning the uniqueness of my body. What exactly makes my body different? Is it because of the stronger mental power you mentioned earlier compared to ordinary people?" Thinking about Venom's mention of the uniqueness of his body, Maverick asked.

"Stronger? It seems you don't quite understand your situation. Your mental power isn't just stronger than ordinary people; it's much more powerful," Venom denied Maverick's speculation, shaking its head.

"The reason you can't tap into this power is that your physical constitution is too weak compared to it."

"Everything I've encountered in your body is because your subconscious is protecting your body."

"I can only absorb a portion of your body's energy to avoid causing damage, and I can't communicate with you because your mind generally rejects the intrusion of external consciousness."

At this point, Venom suddenly became excited. "Have you felt that your physical condition has improved significantly during this time?"

Hearing Venom's words, Maverick couldn't help but recall that indeed his physical condition seemed to have improved during this time. He had previously thought it was just due to his body growing.

"Remember now? Do you know why?" Venom couldn't help but tease.
