5 Chapter 5: Sticky Trouble

At Harvey Hammond's signal, the thug beside him pulled out the gun tucked at his waist and cautiously moved to the door.

Peering through the peephole, he saw a young man wearing a helmet standing outside, dressed in a pizza shop uniform, holding a stack of pizzas.

"Hello? Is anyone home? Your pizza delivery is here." Maverick rang the doorbell and spoke loudly.

"Weird, the lights are on inside, but no one's answering the door." After waiting a while with no response, he felt puzzled.

The thug at the door turned to look at Harvey Hammond upon hearing Maverick's voice, unsure of what to do next.

Harvey Hammond wished he could beat Joey Baker to death again to vent his anger. Who knew when this damn bastard ordered the pizza? Was it before they arrived?

Cold light flashed in Harvey Hammond's eyes as he instantly thought of dealing with the delivery guy outside to avoid trouble.

But considering his brother's advice not to stir up trouble unnecessarily, he pondered for a moment before whispering to the thug at the door, "Let's hide. Quickly get rid of him, and make sure not to expose anything suspicious."

The thug nodded upon hearing this, and after ensuring everyone was hidden, he holstered the gun and cleared his throat, saying, "Hold on, I'm looking for change."

After waiting a few seconds, he opened the door halfway and took the stack of pizzas handed over by Maverick.

Although Maverick found it strange that it took so long for someone to answer the door, he didn't say anything, just following the procedure and said softly, "Thank you for your trust. That'll be thirty-two dollars. Here are a few coupons for your next visit."

The thug took the pizzas and placed them on the ground, then took out four ten-dollar bills from his pocket and handed them to Maverick, saying, "No need for change. The rest is your tip."

Maverick smiled politely at the generous customer and said, "Thank you for your generosity. I wish you a good mood every day."

The thug nodded lightly, eager to send the guy away quickly.

Just as he was about to close the door, the person responsible for cleaning up the body suddenly loosened his grip, causing the body to slip down a few steps of the staircase, and the head of the body made a dull thud as it hit the floor.

The thug tasked with handling the body's face instantly changed color at this sight, then hurriedly grabbed the legs of the body and pulled it up again.

Because the living room was relatively spacious and there was no space to hide a person, the thug ended up holding the body on the stairs.

But unexpectedly, the body, already beaten to a pulp, with its sticky, bloody mess, coupled with its considerable weight, causing him to suddenly lose his grip, leading to this accident.

The thug and Maverick at the door also heard the noise. The delivery guy instinctively shifted his body slightly, blocking Maverick's view with his own body.

Maverick only turned his head at the sound, but he didn't ask any questions or look around curiously. He thought it might be the household pets knocking something over.

With that, Maverick mounted his motorcycle and began his journey back home.

Inside the house, after closing the door, the thug watched Maverick's motorcycle getting farther and farther away through the window, without noticing anything unusual, which relieved him.

"Sorry, boss! It wasn't intentional! There was too much blood on the body, and I lost my grip for a moment, causing it to fall." The dumb thug, knowing he had made a mistake, immediately explained anxiously upon seeing Harvey Hammond's icy gaze.

"But I quickly pulled it back up, not more than two seconds passed, and the kid didn't notice anything unusual." The thug hurriedly reassured.

Harvey Hammond didn't say anything, just cast a cold gaze at him, then turned to the other thug who had opened the door just now. "Did that kid notice anything?"

The thug who opened the door thought for a moment, then shook his head and said, "Probably not. I only opened the door halfway, and after the noise, I shifted my body again. He shouldn't have seen anything."

Harvey Hammond didn't say anything either. He just walked to the window, confirmed that there was indeed no one around, then opened the door and stood in the same spot where Maverick had been standing just now.

"Open the door again and grab something, repeat your actions from earlier." Harvey Hammond beckoned to the thug who had just opened the door, signaling him to come to the door again.

The thug complied and stood in the same spot as before, demonstrating his actions once again.

Harvey Hammond nodded after looking over, indeed, the kid couldn't see anything. His mob was naturally imposing, standing there like a brick wall.

Then he walked down the steps of the door and glanced back.

"Don't move," Harvey suddenly said to the thug at the door.

The thug quickly stood still, letting the boss scrutinize him.

"You were indeed standing like this just now, right?" Harvey Hammond confirmed with the thug again.

The thug, upon hearing the boss's serious question, thought for a few seconds and then nodded, saying, "Yes, I was standing like that just now."

After hearing this, Harvey Hammond silently approached the house, then grabbed the head of the thug who had just made the noise and knocked it against the stairs.

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

"Ah! Ah! Ah!"

Accompanying the muffled sounds of banging was the thug's agonizing screams, until he became somewhat disoriented and could only groan, that Harvey Hammond stopped his hand.

"Just now, that kid could see bloodstains from the stairs through your legs when you turned around," Harvey Hammond turned to the thug who had opened the door and said in a low voice.

"If that idiot hadn't pulled the body up high enough just now, he might have even seen half of the body's head."

Hearing Harvey Hammond's words, the thug who had opened the door was instantly drenched in cold sweat, fearing the wrath of Harvey Hammond.

"You did well just now; this isn't your fault," Harvey Hammond said in a deep voice. "But that kid is still a problem. Now we're not sure if he saw anything."

"You figure out a way to quietly or reasonably make him die unexpectedly."

Hearing Harvey Hammond's words, the thug's suspended heart also relaxed, as long as he wasn't blamed and punished. As for dealing with that kid reasonably, although it was a bit troublesome, it wasn't difficult either.

Thinking of this, the thug hurriedly nodded and said, "Understood, I'll arrange it as soon as possible. I'll keep a close eye on that kid these two days."

Upon hearing the response, Harvey Hammond also nodded, then continued to instruct, "Clean up the scene and leave. Take these two idiots back and feed them to the dogs."

"Yes!"

Half an hour later, in the darkness of the night, the house flickered with orange-red flames, gradually turning into ashes and ruins, erasing all traces.
