24 Chapter 24: Easy Death?

"Getting rid of him," such light words cost the old man his life. If it weren't for Venom's presence, he would have lost his life in that accident, becoming just another insignificant example in the Bloodhead Gang's long list of debts.

As the wall shattered, Paul Mark was also hit by scattered debris, his head bleeding. Before he could dig himself out of the rubble, Maverick used his tentacles to pull him out.

"Tell us everything you know about the Bloodhead Gang and the Hammond brothers. We need to know everything about them."

Maverick's voice was filled with suppressed anger. He wanted to wipe out both the brothers and the entire Bloodhead Gang to honor the innocent Old York.

Facing death, Paul Mark's heart strangely calmed down. As a gang member, he was mentally prepared for this day, but it seemed to have come a bit too soon, a bit too fast, and a bit unexpectedly.

Thinking of the angry young man in front of him, he even felt some concern for the future of the Bloodhead Gang. It was ridiculous. Even if the young man in front of him had some strange abilities, he wasn't something terrifying before an established gang that had been operating for years.

Perhaps he could easily take down one person, two people, or three people, but could he remain calm when facing dozens of guns pointed at his head?

In Paul Mark's understanding, no one could remain calm when facing dozens of guns.

Maverick didn't know that the dying man in front of him had so many thoughts in his head at this moment. Otherwise, he would have let him die and move on.

Dozens of guns might pose some danger to others, even to Spider-Man, but for Venom, they were just like some spicy snacks, posing no threat at all.

In the dim basement, Paul Mark lay half-leaning on a pile of stones, telling all the information he knew, including about the Bloodhead Gang and the Hammond brothers.

The Bloodhead Gang was one of the largest gangs in New York City, with very strong power. Although the other major gangs were also on par with it, they were slightly inferior in both financial resources and tactics.

The Bloodhead Gang's main business is the drug trade, controlling nearly seventy percent of the drug business in all of New York.

Other gangs envy and covet their drug trade, but whether it's their deeper background, their actual strength, or their methods of doing business, they can't surpass the Bloodhead Gang.

So over the years, the Bloodhead Gang has been a behemoth in the underground world of New York.

The Hammond brothers are the top and most core figures of the entire Bloodhead Gang, especially Jon Hammond, as the brother, is the soul and brain of the entire gang.

Although Paul Mark is Harvey's underling, his understanding of Jon isn't particularly deep.

Jon Hammond is still mysterious to people at their level, probably only Harvey and a few others can have contact with him.

In contrast, Paul Mark is more familiar with and understands Harvey Harmon, his direct superior.

If Jon Hammond is the brain and soul of the entire Bloodhead Gang, then Harvey is the gang's sharp blade. He may not have the intelligence of his brother, but his methods are ruthless, and his strength is formidable. He is practically the demon keeping the Bloodhead Gang alive.

Until this moment, the true face of the enemy and the true nature of the whole situation have fully revealed themselves to Maverick.

Maverick's psychological feelings are extremely complicated right now. This incident cost the life of the old man who took care of him.

But the cause is so simple, so mundane. As if erasing a person's existence is as casual as eating and drinking for them.

"I've told you everything I know. Give me a quick death," Paul Mark, who has already prepared to face death calmly, lay on the pile of rubble, speaking calmly.

He knows he won't escape death today. As Maverick just said, since it's inevitable, he wants to go quickly.

Watching Paul Mark's calm acceptance of death, Maverick's complex emotions spread like an overturned paint can.

Countless flavors ultimately turned into a full-blown anger and resentment, his mouth involuntarily curling up under the influence of his emotions.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, HAHAHA!!!"

Maverick knelt on the ground, covering his face, and his manic, sharp laughter pierced directly into Paul Mark's heart, unsettling the calm emotions he had just achieved.

The rubble around him seemed to tremble slightly along with this manic laughter, uncontrollably.

The laughter continued for a minute before gradually subsiding. When Maverick lowered his hands from his face, his originally pale and narrow eyes had somehow turned bloodshot.

"I've changed my mind. Even though you've told me everything I wanted to know, I still don't want to let you die so easily."

The hoarse, low voice echoed in the basement space, and Paul Mark's heart sank even further.

Under the dual pressure of impending death and eerie circumstances, he couldn't help but shout in a moment of breakdown, "Just kill me! You monster!"

"I've told you everything you wanted! You promised me a quick death! Kill me! Damn it!"

Maverick ignored Paul Mark's shouting and just slowly stood up, walking towards him.

"A gangster, scum in society, what right do you have to talk to me about promises!"

"I won't let you die so easily. I'm going to chop off all your limbs, muscles, tendons, and joints, then peel off your skin to expose your flesh."

"I suppose you saw those rats and flies when you came in, didn't you?"

As he spoke, Maverick controlled his tendrils to sever Paul Mark's tendons and joints, leaving him as a pile of flesh lying on the ground, unable to move, not even able to turn over.

"Yes, they'll slowly gnaw on your flesh, lay eggs on you, let maggots crawl into your bones, crawl on your bones, let you experience what it feels like to have an itch and pain deep in your bones."
