Chapter 35: The Expedition log 1

It's been 4,002 years since my birth; and I must say in all that time I have never felt so driven. Even when I was faced with the possibility of the absolute annihilation of my kind; I never felt like I was moving too slow or that whatever the goal was had to happen now. I sighed and laid back on the deck; staring up at the sky as the large ship sailed on unhindered.

"Amos, what are you thinking about?" Asked Jara her voice hinted that she wasn't serious about her question. Perhaps she didn't think I'd answer? I smiled knowingly; glanced in her direction then said

"I'm thinking about everything that happened after the War of the Gods." Jara was quiet for a moment and then as if coming out of a stupor said dumbly.

"Oh." Her voice was low and unusual; so much so I found myself looking at her curiously. Jara was never one to be unsettled; She was always scheming; and always erratic. I have never once seen her look vulnerable since the time of the war.

"It's been 408 years now.." She said it slowly, then looked up at me with a smile. I sat up.

"You're starting to act like an old man Amos." she giggled teasingly; but everything was off. I blinked taken aback by her sudden change; she was obviously trying to hide something. usually those kinds of words would be followed by a barrage or unsaintly behavior, pouts and mocking that never ended. all of it really; from her actions to her word choice it always seemed so disgustingly fake. Perhaps it really isn't me putting up walls.

"You should stop acting and be yourself sometimes Jara." I looked away; then drew back into my own analysis of the situation; when I heard her say.

"That's hard to do when everything that made you who you are..is gone." I looked back at her but she was already shutting the door to the captains quarters. her thoughts tickled at my mind and I let out another sigh before falling back onto the deck.

I had to admit Jara did get the most traumatic ending to her parents; but because her family had ties all over the world she suffered the least amount of damage where assets were concerned. Her family left behind a grand legacy and she would never suffer the fate of poverty. for one so young that should have been enough.

I still remember her face when she saw her parents die. I was fighting alongside my then Fiance Annese Lee Don Sythe Kyne, She was a brilliant fighter; she was even the reason I began studying Twin Blades. I thought that Jara's parents could handle themselves but I was wrong. The Glamour-kyne were not a bloodline meant for battle; This little fact I had forgotten. In the end I left them open to attack; they were cut down and murdered right in front of her. I was only able to save Jara. many of the non-combative bloodlines were eliminated that day. We were already weakened by the sunlight so I suppose it was to be a lost cause. Annese, Jara, a few others, and myself managed to get out of Hraenta; our place of birth. But that wasn't the end of it; we fought what felt like endless waves of enemies at the time; eventually coming to the end of our territory. We did find a way to get them off our trail; it was our only option faced with such a variety in enemies.

I split off in one direction with Jara and Annese the other. We agreed to meet on the other side of a large ravene. However Annese never showed up. A month or so after the war settled I went back to find Annese. They had beat her; cut out her heart; strunge her naked, upside down from a tree; and bound her arms and legs. I suppose they thought it was funny leaving her like that. of course I was mad and made it my mission to make them and their children pay in blood. using the skill [Blood Spong] I gained the last few memories contained in the DNA of Annese, It wasn't much to go on at first but there were traces of their blood too; and unfortunately for them their cocky attitudes were their reckoning.

I brought Jara back to collect what was left of her belongings. Not only had they slaughtered our people but they raided our homes too. however the Kyne never left their inheritances in easy places. It was those whomst bloodlines were completely obliterated that would suffer terribly as their legacies would die with them.

After bringing Jara to a safe place I got revenge for my Fiance. I admit I never loved her as a man did a woman; but she was my best friend if I ever had one and therefore worthy to be avenged in my eyes.

The sound of rolling waves and sudden heavy rain caught my attention. I got up quickly and rushed to the captain's side; as a sea beast much larger than the ship rose from the waters below. the crew began to scramble; taking up posts and trying to keep the ship on course. I sighed no longer in a mood to deal with such events.

"hah." I breathed out before using the void spell [νօﻨհεг]. 3 Spheres made of gravity and void appeared. 1 behind and on either side of the sea monster.

"Keep the ship away from the beast!" I said to the captain as he held tight to the wheel. The black orbs began to rotate clock and counterclockwise simultaneously holding it in place and tearing it apart. The scaled beast screeched in rage and pain as it was being torn to bits by the sudden alternating forces. The water that was kicked up as it thrashed about was sucked into the voids that kept on until the monster's scales were gone, and it's large body reduced to nothing but meaty chunks. the moment it's head was sucked in it was dead and I let it's body sink. It was such an unnecessarily powerful spell with too large of an area of attack that I rarely found a use for it. but It was one of my favorites too use.

"The beast has been dealt with, Get the ship back on course!" I yelled to the captain who then shouted orders to the crew. I sat back down and thought of the letter I sent to Eva just before we had departed. Did she get it yet?

How is everyone doing? Stay well and thanks for reading.
