38 The Spear and Guesser

"Asahi, here's the last ball!" Haruto yelled out as he gave an underhand pass towards the outside of the back row towards Asahi's direction. What Haruto passed was an out of system ball from Shiratorizawa's outside hitter that caused Haruto to be unable to attack.

Asahi saw the high toss towards him and jumped up to spike it, jumping past the attack line.

Contacting his palm he followed through with his swing and did a powerful cross court spike hitting the blockers arms and going out.

"YESSS" Asahi yelled and the players on the court gathered around to celebrate the point. Haruto rotated to the back row and got to the serving line and looked at the score. It was currently [10-16] with Shiratorizawa leading as they still needed some more time to get used to Ushijima's hits.

After being passed the ball Haruto bounced the ball a bit before doing his routine and took a breath out.

'I should serve it towards Tsutomu.' Haruto thought as he threw the ball up and did his jump serve aiming at Tsutomu.

'This bastard is really targeting me.' Tsutomu felt his eyebrow twitch and tried to get low to pass Haruto's serve. He leaned forward to reach the ball and passed it to the setter. He grinned on the inside as he saw Haruto click his tongue.

The three blockers quickly shifted to block Ushijima but were taking off guard when the setter gave a quick set towards the middle, giving him an open space to spike from.

"Ufff." Nishinoya quickly got his right hand outwards to reach the ball and prevented the ball from touching the ground.

Kageyama ran under the ball and Hinata ran to jump from the right side of the court. In the air he swung as Kageyama gave a minus tempo to him allowing him to hit past the approaching blockers earning a point.

"Hmm.. ehh. That shorty does have some jumping power." A tall blocker in the middle with spiky red hair was smiling as he hummed to himself seeing Hinata score a point.

'I should aim at that spot.' Haruto scanned the other side and threw the ball to do his serve. The ball crossed the net and was placed very closely to the side lines.

"Out!" Shiratorizawa's outside hitter called the ball out as he was close to the ball and looked towards the linesmen. They raised their flags and pointed it towards the line indicating it was in.

"You almost gave me a heart attack." Hinata ran up to Haruto and said as the ball was really close to the sidelines.

Haruto once again bounced the ball and served it attempting to do the same spot but his serve was passed and was given to Ushijima. He jumped up and smashed the ball cross court and Haruto quickly went to the area where the ball was headed.

'How the hell does his spikes have so much force?!' Haruto yelled out in his head as he passed the ball upwards and rolled back to help with absorbing the force of the ball.

"Haruto! Nice save." Nishinoya yelled out and Kageyama ran towards where the ball was put up and tried to do another minus tempo with Hinata.

*Bang

As Kageyama turned around to see the play he saw the ball get blocked and it landed back onto their side.

"Wheew. Shorty, you must trust your setter a lot to be hitting that ball with your eyes closed." The blocker with spiky red hair grinned as he walked back to rotate his position.

"Don't mind, you'll get the next point." Daichi patted Hinata who was in a daze and brought him back and he got into position.

"Don't worry guys! Just pass the next serve…" Takeda yelled out on the sidelines but he turned quiet as he looked at who was serving.

*Bounce bounce

Ushijima was bouncing the ball with both hands and held it in both his hands ready to throw the ball for his serve.

"Huff." Haruto, Daichi and Nishinoya gave a deep breath out and put all their focus on receiving the ball. Kageyama looked at the receivers and felt the strong gazes they were giving towards the other side of the court.

""Give it here. GIve it here. Give it here."" Haruto and Nishinoya, the ones who were silently watching, felt their bodies relax as they saw Ushijima throw the ball in the air.

The ball made a loud pop as it contacted his left palm and made its way past the net. The direction turned towards Nishinoya's left side. He lowered his body and stretched his forearms together, contacting the ball as he felt the spin on the ball. Nishinoya adjusted his body and gave a perfect pass.

"HE PASSED USHIJIMA'S SERVE?!" The spectators yelled out, surprised by the feat that Nishinoya did. Haruto saw the opportunity and ran from the right side of the back row to hit the ball.

Kageyama quickly saw this and gave a quick set behind him. In the air Haruto saw an open spot that the blockers left behind and aimed it in that direction. Haruto blasted the ball at an angled cross court to earn a point.

"Tsk just barely late."

"You'll get it next time, Tendo."

Tendo, who was the person with spiky red hair, clicked his tongue as he saw the opening that Haruto was hitting towards but was too late to react due to being surprised they were able to pass their ace's serve.

The small play Karasuno did was able to help propel them to get some points but were still a bit lacking as the blockers from Shitatorizawa were able to get used to their movements.

"Shift! Shift!" Kageyama called out as they shifted towards Ushijima's side to block him. Haruto, who was able to rotate to the front, swung his arms to get some height in his block as Ushijima spiked the ball.

"Touch!" Haruto yelled out as he aimed to soften the spike as it would be difficult trying to aim for a kill block to shut down Ushijima.

Haruto cursed at the heavy ball and ran back to prepare for the set. Kageyama gave a shoot set towards the outside after using Tsukishima to bait the middles and Haruto jumped up.

In the air he watched the arms of the blockers go up and saw the arms of the blocker in front of him reaching over the net more compared to normal players shortening the height of his block.

Haruto took advantage and shifted his shoulders to have his right side to be higher than his left, slightly increasing the reach of his spiking arm. He swung and was able to hit slightly over the block and smashed it in front of him.

Landing after he hit, Haruto looked at the score and saw that it was now [21-24]. They were able to lower the gap of the points compared to before but Shiratorizawa was close to reaching the end first as they were at match point.

Kageyama rotated to the back row to serve and Daichi came to the front court. Kageyama did his routine and served the ball, making its way into the left corner of the court where their libero was able to pass the ball.

The setter gave a quick set towards their middle but Tsukishima quickly jumped up to block the ball. The ball bounced off the block and Haruto passed the ball and prepared to hit. Running to hit he got a set and spiked it cross court before having his hit get touched.

"Touch, Touch~!" Tendo hummed as he ran back after softening Haruto's hit. The setter gave the ball to Ushijima and the three on the front jumped up for the block. Sealing the cross court he spiked the ball down line where Nishinoya was ready to pass.

"Yossha!" Nishinoya yelled out as he gave a pass to Kageyama to use. Feeling the blockers slightly shift more towards the left side of the court he gave a back set towards Daichi who could have a higher chance of a 1vs1 scenario when hitting.

"Too predictable~." Kageyama heard some words before seeing Tendo run across the front row and got into place to block the cross court that was spiked.

"It seems like I got it right~." Tendo gave a smile and turned back to go with his team after finishing off the first set that was being played.

"Kageyama you alright…wait you look like you need to take a crap right now." Haruto went up to Kageyama who was standing but when he saw his scrunched up face that looked like he had constipation and began to worry.

"What the hell are you saying, I just felt annoyed by that last play." Kageyama replied back as he felt annoyed by the words Tendo said after blocking the ball he set up.

After switching sides of the court Ukai called the team to get a quick water break while also saying his thoughts about the lineup for the next set. He looked towards Hinata and Haruto who were replenishing their fluids.

"Haruto and Hinata, I plan to have both of you guys in the front row together for the next set to make more use of the speed behind that minus tempo." Ukai said out loud with his eyes closed which caught the attention of the two of them.

"It looks like their blockers have started to get used to our movements so I just have one goal for you guys up at the front." Ukai said and opened his eyes and began to smile.

"Make some chaos."

When the two of them heard this, they looked at each other and grinned like they had just found a new toy to play with.

After a few minutes of having a small break between sets. They returned to their positions and Shiratorizawa noticed the small change in the lineup.

"Will you guys be okay with this shorty when it comes to blocking?" Tendo asked innocently, which made Hinata angry.

The ref blew the whistle and Shiratorizawa who was now serving had the ball cross over the net and had Daichi pass the ball.

"Will you use that fast quick again shorty~" Tendo smiled as he saw Hinata jump up to spike that weird tempo set but as looked at the ball, it disappeared and he saw that it quickly went towards Haruto to which he spiked the ball down the line getting a point.

"It always feels great getting the chance to spike this kind of set." Haruto smiled and felt his red palm as he got into position to prepare for the next play.
