The Alpha & The Barbie

"It's nice to know the name of my mate, but it's disappointing to see you letting another man touch you, mate." I shivered in delight at the deep, rich voice as I turned to meet the man I'd been searching so long for. As my eyes met his deep blue eyes I shivered again before I realized who he was. "Shit! You have to be kidding me! Pardon me I have to go!" When you spend most of your life the size of a barbie doll, interacting with people who seem like giants in comparison can be a bit complicated, to say the least. When you then add a werewolf soulmate who hates your people and thinks you are weak due to your size into the mix it tends to complicate things even more. For Kendra, though, that is just a day in the life of an elven werewolf. This is a short story of only 24 chapters. It is now complete and it shall remain free to read forever. This is not my best work as it was written over a decade ago, but hey! Free is free!

Chapter Two

Once we arrived at Bob Evans we sat down at a booth. The place was fairly empty, but what could you expect at eight in the morning? It was the perfect time for breakfast, though. Since we didn't eat meat our choices were fairly narrow. We decided to go with the all you can eat hotcakes with chocolate chips and pecans cooked into them. We both got hot tea and ate a ton of hotcakes. We may normally eat next to nothing, but when we were at normal, human height we ate like a normal werewolf, which was a ton. We weren't in a hurry to get anywhere either since we only planned to arrive at the packhouse after ten and before noon. That was two to four hours from now. Since we had such large appetites and weren't in a hurry we spent an hour and a half at Bob Evans before we finally decided we were done.

The next stop was Wal-Mart for groceries. The first stop was the baking aisle, specifically the chocolate chips section. Maybe it looked funny for us to be nearly clearing the shelves of whole boxes full of them, but it was almost the only thing we ever ate. Since we'd be staying at least for two months and we were going to be eating them all week while we were eating more than normal, we needed a lot of them. The cart was halfway full of chocolate chips before we decided we had enough. We had Hershey's semi-sweet chocolate chips, Hershey's milk chocolate chips, Hershey's special dark mildly sweet chocolate chips, Hershey's mini chips semi-sweet chocolate chips, Hershey's mini kisses brand milk chocolates, Hershey's mint chocolate chips, Reese's peanut butter chips, mini Reese's pieces, Heath milk chocolate toffee bits, Hershey's butterscotch chips, Hershey's premier white chips, Hershey's cinnamon chips, Nestle Mint and dark chocolate chips, Nestle swirled dark chocolate and raspberry morsels, Nestle swirled dark chocolate and mint morsels, and holiday chocolate morsels with red & green color morsels. So many different types were carried in this town's Wal-Mart. I am in heaven! I can't possibly get tired of eating them now, now, could I? Too bad I had to leave here if I didn't find my mate before I shifted into my larger size again.

Then was the isle with nuts. I wasn't hugely into them, so I just threw a few cans of mixed peanuts into the cart before moving on. I wasn't hugely into any fruit or anything else, so I just skipped that aspect of my diet and decided it was time to check out. The lines were fairly empty still since it was only nine-thirty. So, we were able to quickly come to the front where we began to deposit all of our groceries onto the moving belt. I watched as the cashier paled from the number of items she'd have to scan and bag. I shook my head, lightly laughing at her reaction.

"Why so many chocolate chips? Are you doing, like, the mother of all bake sales or something?"

I looked up from my iPod that I'd been playing with while I waited for her to finish scanning and bagging everything.

"Nope, I'm an elfin werewolf and, as such, I eat a lot of chocolate chips. Plus, you know, I can't go out to the store all the time."

She nodded silently, not saying anything, and then scanned my things as quickly as she could. She even put the bags into my cart since she was in so much of a hurry to be rid of me as soon as possible. I knew why she didn't want to be caught around me. The alpha's son didn't like the elfin people because he saw them as weak. It was why his father, the current alpha was the one I was dealing with and not him. Since the son usually sat in on the meetings and the father didn't want the son to be involved, if at all possible, he decided that he'd meet separately with me without his son knowing. It was ridiculous that the alpha's son thought the elfin were weak and especially thinking they were as a whole. The royalty and alphas always had special abilities that allowed them to defend their packs, even against a rogue pack of normal wolves. I've even defended my people on numerous occasions using my ability.

My brother had laser vision, which was pretty cool. I mean, who wouldn't want to shoot lasers out of their eyes? Not me, but I have a cooler ability anyway. I have telekinesis, which is a lot awesome, but I'm not going to brag. It does make it easier for me to be this small, but there is the responsibility there that makes it so that I have to use it to protect the pack. At least I had a way of showing the alpha's son that I'm not as weak as he thinks I am if he decides to confront me.

Just as I finish the thought Tiara pulls in front of the packhouse. Finally, home sweet home! I can't wait to sleep, but I'll probably have to meet the pack first since I'm staying here for a while. I start to open my door, only to have it opened the rest of the way by the pack's beta, Trent.

"Hello princess, it's a pleasure to see you."

Seriously, what is wrong with this guy? Nobody calls me princess, much less other werewolves, at least the normal-sized ones.

"Don't call me that Trent, my names Kendra."

The response I got startled me.
