27 A special chapter

~Finn's Pov~

Being born the son of an alpha has always had its perks. There was a never ending trail of she-wolves throwing themselves at me hoping to climb their way to the top. Training was easy since I was already strong, I took out opponents with out even trying. School was a breeze because everyone always avoided me, well except for my best friends. I never cared enough to stop the rumors so they only ever got more exaggerated as they went by.

Everything was going amazingly until I picked up the scent of wild flowers and warm honey on the breeze. Rainer screaming mate at me, I stopped and looked around but there was no one to be found. Annoyed at Rainer I just kept walking ignoring the sweet scent that the wind carried. I never wanted a mate any way, I seen the way my father falls at my mom's feet. That could never be me, a powerful alpha falling for some she wolf, as if.

"Hey you want to go to Et Lupum tonight?" Dustin said absent mindedly while texting on his phone.

"Sure its been a while." I joked lightly punching him in the arm.

"Your gross, what happens when you meet your mate. She's going to realize her mate is a whore." Sam said joking with me.

"Who cares, I'm starting to think I don't have one." I laughed but my thoughts went back to that smell earlier.

"Okay meet at my place and I'll drive us over." Dustin said getting up and heading out.

The day passed by pretty fast, I got ready putting on my favorite V neck shirt and black leather jacket. This was always a killer with the ladies, and I wasn't lying it has been a while. I quickly called our omega letting him know I would be visiting the club his wife owned. He assured me there would be a VIP room for me and my friends. With that I headed towards Dustin's house, for some reason Rainer just would not rest in the back of my mind.

"Dude will you chill out." I yelled at him, he only huffed in response.

Dustin and Sam were dressed up and waiting by his car when I pulled up.

"Lets do this!" Sam said as we loaded up Dustin's sleek Jetta.

The drive to Et Lupum was never to long since he always drove like a mad man while on the pack lands. When we arrived the line was stretched around the block as it usually was, but we didn't bother getting in it, instead we just walked up to the bouncer who knew who we were. Quickly he ushered us upstairs to the room the omega had prepared for them. The red couches surrounding the room with different bottles of liquor on the tables. I grabbed on of the whiskey bottles and poured myself a shot.

"I'm going to go dance, the crowd is really starting to pick up down there." Dustin said peeking over the railing looking down at the swaying bodies.

"Me to, I wonder if there are any good she-wolves down there." Sam said following him out the door.

Slowly I sipped my drink, the music blaring making me relax even further. That is when I smelt it again, the wonderful scent from this morning.

"MATE! She's here!" Rainer screamed at me, instinctively I got up and walked over to the railing.

Scanning the room I couldn't make out which moving body she was. My eyes kept roaming over the crowd until I saw a girl jerk her arm away from some creep. Her tight dress fit her curves perfectly, she looked like a classic movie star who stepped off of set. I was scanning her body when I finally met her eyes.

"Mate!!" Rainer yipped as I stared into her brown eyes. The guy reached for her again which pissed both of us off. With out thinking I let out a powerful warning growl.

The look on her face was of pure fear. Was she scared of me? If she is my mate why would she fear me? She turned on her heels and took off running. I had to talk to her so I moved as fast as I could to get down stairs but when I got there I couldn't find her. When I heard an engine fire up I ran outside. I watched as she drove off down the road. The growl that came from me was something I have never let out before.

Feeling defeated I walked back into the club to find my friends. They both could tell something was off but neither of them asked. They knew if I wanted to talk about it than I would. Dustin was first to break the silence in the VIP room.

"So I met my mate... She's gorgeous! She's beta Chris's daughter." he gushed making me slightly annoyed. "Its crazy we just met we go to the same campus. She was here with her friends Daliah and Ash. Their apart of those wolves who showed up a couple of years ago." he finished.

"The ones that don't have the connection with their wolves?" Sam said taking a sip of his drink.

"Yeah but I don't know how true that is, the girl was being hit on by some dude while I was down there but she looked like she talked with her wolf just fine." Dustin finished his drink and went for another.

"Hey Finn didn't you growl at him? Or that is what it seemed like. Is she one of your secret flings?" Sam joked, nudging me with his elbow.

"It seems we both have had mates hiding in plain sight." I said shocking both of them.

"Wait what? Daliah is your mate?" Dustin asked confused. "Oh that's right today is her birthday. It was one of the few things I got to know before she booked it out of here.... Wait was she running from you?" he eyed me suspiciously.

"I guess you scared her off with the growl." Sam finished causing me to finish my drink in one shot just to pour another.

"Doesn't matter anyway I don't need a mate." I finished my drink and poured another.

The night went by uneventfully, I couldn't stop thinking about her. All the other she-wolves her paled in comparison to her. It wasn't long until we decided to head home. Dustin had called over one of the drivers that I used so he wouldn't need to drive. When I got home the house was silent, there were pack members who lived here along with my family but they were all asleep at this point.

I quickly grabbed a sandwich from the fridge, the kitchen staff knew I liked to snack after a night out. I pulled a bag of plain chips out from one of the cabinets and sat at the counter to enjoy my snack.

"Your aura is absolutely glowing." my moms voice came from behind me causing me to jump.

"Sheesh mom we gotta get you a bell." I joked with her, she giggled and took a seat next to me.

"Where is the fun in that." she laughed again, "But really what has you in such a emotional mix." she said looking at me that way she always does when she talks about these things.

"I met my mate mom.. she ran away from me." I said taking a bite out of the sandwich.

"Maybe she was nervous, sometimes it can be nerve-racking." she patted my shoulder. "So do I know her?" she asked excitedly.

"Daliah, I think her last name is Flora." she went very still for a second making me nervous, "Mom what is it?" I said taking another bite out of my food.

"Oh its nothing honey, her parents are good friends of mine." she said with a genuine smile plastered on her face.

"Wait so why haven't I met her before?" I asked confused, I never saw her parents come around.

"You have silly, they have catered a few of our dinners when we have visitors." she said getting up from her seat.

"Wait your saying she's the weird one who would run out of the room once they served the meals?" the girl in the club tonight looked nothing like that girl. She was always scared and running away. Why would the moon goddess pair me with someone so weak.

"That's the one. Although I'm sure she is about to come into her own." she smiled, "Oh don't forget we have to go to the school tomorrow, clear up that incident with the one she-wolf hurting the other." she stole a chip and headed out of the room.

Annoyed with the day I hurried up and finished my food before going upstairs to get ready for bed. With all the events of the day it didn't take long for me to fall asleep.

The next morning we went to the campus to chat with the dean. As we were walking into the building I caught the scent of warm honey and stopped dead in my tracks. She must be here in one of the buildings. I couldn't help but look around to see if I could spot her. I was pissed when her scent went away, so was Rainer.

"Find her." he growled at me.

"I can't man, we have to fix this situation first." I said half wanting to find her to.

Things with the dean went smoothly, he didn't want to upset his luna after all. As we were leaving there it was again, she was close again. Some where around here, but when I looked around she was no where to be seen.

"Come on Finn, your dad needs you back at the house for a meeting. I still have to go get James from inside. Then were going to get some food. Love you!" my mom said as she took my arm and lead me to a car waiting for me.

"Okay, shesh mom you don't have to push me." I said as I climbed in the back. She waved at us as the driver sped down the road.

When I got home I went directly into the meeting hall my dad used when he called emergency meetings. I sat in the back but listened to every thing that went on in the room. It seemed there has been a few rouge breaches on the outskirts of the lands but nothing we couldn't handle. I decided to work out after it was over, I lifted weights when I was stressed. Or maybe when I really wanted to punch something.

Why does she hide from me? Do I scare her that bad? I threw down the weights in my hands.

"She probably knows your track record." Rainer growled at me.

I ignored him but decided to go get a shower. I made quick work of it and got dressed in some sweats and face planted on my bed. There was a light knock at the door making me groan. Slowly I got up and opened it. When I pulled it back it revealed a small curvy blonde girl.

"Hey there handsome." she said in a sultry voice.

"Who are you?" I asked confused, I at least had a decent memory of the girls I slept with.

"I'm Jess remember?" she said pushing her self onto me caressing my face.

"I'm sorry I don't..." she shushed me. I could feel my eyes getting heavy.

"You'll remember soon enough baby." she said laughing as my eye lids closed and sleep took over me...…

I woke up in the morning with the worst headache. Jess was always so crazy when she came around. I grunted as I got out of bed, this headache was killing me. I went into the bathroom to wash my face. The cool water helped a little in easing it but it still hurt, I decided food would probably be the best.

I threw on a sweat shirt and headed downstairs. The kitchen staff had made omelets and a few breakfast meats. All of which I devoured the moment I sat down. When I finished my second plate the head ache was finally gone.

"Finn we're having dinner with the Flora family tonight. Please try to make it." my mom said from behind me.

"A bell, a bell is what I'm getting you for this winter solstice." I snapped, but then realized the name she said. "Wait you mean?"

"Yes, she is coming over for dinner. She actually found James earlier so I took the opportunity." she said with a mischievous smile forming on her face.

Rainer yipped in excitement, she had no where to hide if she's here for dinner. A smile matching my moms formed on my face. I loved this woman, she really knows how to get what she wants.

"Its later tonight so do be home and dressed decently." she said as she patted my shoulder.

"I'll be there mom." she nodded and went off about doing what ever it is she does during the day.

I decided to paint since I had a free day today. I followed the corridor to my little studio. It was one of my favorite places in the huge manor. All of my favorite works lined all for walls. The only other items in the room were my supplies and one easel and stool.

I sat down with a blank canvas and let my hand glide over it painting what ever came to mind. I was lost in my haze until I realized I had painted the water fall that was on the lands. But in the bottom corner I had painted Rainer and the outline of another wolf. It was almost as big as mine but it had a slimmer build. I wondered what wolf besides my dad was as large as us.

The door to the room was thrown open causing my to completely snap out of my daze. It opened to show Will one of the betas looking panicked.

"Rouges and a lot of them at the boarder." he said curtly, that was all I needed to get up and stride to his side and follow him out.

When we got there the warriors had taken most of them out but I hurried into the battle. The first rouge came at me fast but not fast enough. I grabbed his throat and ripped it out before he could even plan to throw a punch. Another came at me jumping at me only half shifting, to bad he left his guard down. I grabbed his foot and sent him flying into a nearby tree.

I made quick work of a few more mercilessly working through them. Once we were done a few wolves came to clean up the rouges. I hadn't realized what time it was when my mom linked me stating their about to sit down for dinner. I let her know the situation and that I'd be home soon.

I jogged with a few of the warriors back to the house. I got so excited to see her that I went straight into the dining room, not bothering to look in a mirror. My eyes found her as soon as I entered.

Immediately both my parents run towards me checking to make sure none of the blood was mine. She sat there stiff as a board. She was wearing a dress again, it fit perfectly.

"What happened?" my dad roared causing a few warriors to come rushing in.

"Rouges on the outskirts of the land, they've been dealt with." I said coolly never taking my eyes from her.

"Are you hurt any where?" mom said examining me, I just shook My head. When I did she finally relaxed noticing exactly where my eyes were. A sly smile crept on her face.

I slowly walked towards her my eyes trained on her. She had beautiful brown hair, and chocolate brown eyes. There were slight freckles on her nose, and her round lips made me want to go insane.

"Mate.." I said sliding out the chair on the other side of the table plopping down into it. Rainer was going crazy inside, he wanted to take her and mate right now. She looked like she wanted to run away from me, that habit of hers is annoying.

"H..Hello young a.. Alpha." she stuttered out finally looking away from me. Her voice sounded like an angel.

"You look beautiful, mate." her head snapped up with a look of shock plastered over it. I couldn't help but smile even harder. So she runs because she's innocent.

"She's to good for you." Rainer huffed in the back of my mind. I ignored him, instead taking in the scent of her. Only then I realized that she was starting my blood covered face.

Quickly I turned away to address a few guards on where the bodies were and to have the one brought to the cells. When I turned back she was getting up to run, I let out a low powerful growl.

"Not again little mate." I said my alpha essence leaking into my voice. Not even looking back I finished briefing the warriors.

"I..I would.. I would like to go please." she whispered.

Confused I turned around to look at her, why does she not want to be near me. I looked down at my clothes and realized that this definitely was not helping here.

"You may go... but no more hiding, it gets on my nerves." I said sharply, hopefully she'll get the hint.

Annoyed I decided to let Rainer take a run, I just wanted to relax. Plus its been a while since he ran. A howl rang out but it wasn't one I knew, but that's normal there were so many wolves in our pack it was hard to know all of them. Annoyed with the day I went home to shower and go to bed.

The next day I went to class hoping to see her, hopefully she had taken the hint. When I finally found her sent it was mixed with something foul. A rouge. I took off towards them, Rainer coming to the surface seeing our mate in trouble. She looked so helpless but she spoke to him with authority. Even if she was scared she wasn't going to back down.

"I like that." Rainer said pride filling him and slowly spilling into me.

I toyed with the rouge, his movements were entirely to slow for me to worry about him. After I grabbed him by the throat I asked him the same questions I've been trained to ask in these situation. When he threatened her, I saw red ripping out hid throat. The blood sprayed all over her, turning her delicate features even more helpless.

"Its a kill or be killed world mate." I said annoyed that even while protecting her she feared me.

As soon as I turned around I heard her running away, again. Soon her two feet turned to four. It was almost as fast as I can shift. I thought they said that they had no connections to their wolves, but she obviously does and a powerful one at that. I would have to talk to my mom about that.

"She is our mate.. Dumba*s." Rainer huffed at my thoughts.

As the days went on I could see the change in her slowly but surely she was becoming more powerful. She even stood up to me like no one has ever done before. I couldn't help but fall under her spell. I just wanted to be near her or by her side but I would never let her know that. Then she got hurt, shot with not one but two silver bullets. If it wasn't for the beta's daughter being there who knows if we would have found them in time.

Val was her name, when I got there she was so panicked saying she was protecting her. I scooped her up and ran my fastest the entire way to the pack hospital. Watching her in that hospital bed ate me up inside. I spent most of those days never leaving her bedside. I never wanted to lose her, especially before I got her.

When she finally healed I decided I would try, try to have a mate. Try to change so I never have to see her hurt. But one situation after another I pushed her away, all because of my stupid past. When she spoke of rejection my heart shattered to pieces. I never planned on letting her go any where. So I decided to make her a promise and never go back on it. After watching her underneath another wolf I slightly lost it.

"Dean get the f*ck off my mate." I growled, when he didn't move I let my alpha presence set in.

I walked over to her calmly, I didn't want to scare her off. I sat down next to her not sure what to say just yet and simply enjoying being close to her. I could feel her anger rising as we sat in silence.

"So Jess.. she seems... nice." she said clearly pissed at me.

"No she doesn't..." was all I could say in reply.

"I thought we were doing okay.. I thought you may have actually liked me.." she said on the verge of tears.

"She was an old fling. I'm so sorry Dali, it was a misunderstanding." I pleaded turning to her.

"You let her stay.." she whispered looking dejected . "You don't care about me at all. The Moon goddess was wrong when she paired us." she stood up fast but not fast enough for me not to stop her. It felt like my heart was just ripped from my being. This is not what I wanted.

"Don't say that please." I said focused on the sparks between us.

"Then what am I supposed to do when ever I see you with another. Huh? Just suck it up?" she started yelling "And what was that back there? I was training."

"He was going to hurt you, and you don't want to know what he was thinking about you." I growled remembering how he wanted to take her back to his room.

"NO. You don't get to get mad at someone who didn't even know who I was when I caught you on your bed with some b*tch." she growled "You haven't even said sorry. Do you actually feel any regret or am I just some toy to you?" she yanked her hand away.

"You know what... I'm.." I stopped half way not sure how to calm her.

"Forget it and just hurry up and reject me." she faced me with her head held high "You've already hurt me enough." the one tear that fell was the last nail in the coffin. I was hers.

"I'm not going to reject you Daliah." I cooed at her "But I'm sorry... Its not easy to apologize as an alpha." I went to go touch her but she moved away.

"So you didn't want to apologize because of pride?" she laughed "You do realize that if you keep this up... I will reject you." she crossed her arms and cried freely

"Dali, please don't cry." I wrapped her up in my arms.

I watched her as she struggled but eventually gave in to the pull. I want nothing more than to comfort her. Assure her I'd never do anything to be the cause of those tears again.

"I promise you mate, I will never be the cause of your tears again." I let go and kneeled in front of her. An alpha kneels for no one but his mate.

"So what does this mean for us babe?" the voice came from the one and only Jess.

"It means keep your hands off of him or I'll.." I stood up catching her noticing Fallon had taken over.

"It means no more surprise visits. No more us." I said calmly. She made a pouting face at my words. Dali let out a powerful growl surprising her, almost causing her to stumble backwards.

"What ever, but she'll have to live knowing I've already had her mate, and so has many others in the pack." she laughed walking by us.

"I'm sorry." I said trying to start making good on that promise.

"I knew your past. I'm not stupid..." siting back down she started plucking blades of grass.

"I know.. I have an idea.. Lets train, work off that anger at me." I perked up at the idea.

"Fine." she said curtly still annoyed.

We walked back over to the circle where everyone had been earlier. There was Dustin and Alice sparing in it. Surprisingly Dustin was having a hard time keeping up with Alice's speed. It wasn't long until she had him beat, and helping him up. Leading her into the circle I crouched down.

"You got this hun!" Val called out to her and we began.

"Your not bad." with every movement I was even more impressed than I was the last.

"You ain't seen nothing yet." she growled at me before disappearing from in front of me. Only to reappear on my back.

"I win." she whispered in my ear. The crowd burst into a mixture of gasps and cheering.

I was so proud that the one person who was able to best me was her utterly filled with bliss. Then tragedy hit. During one of the numerous attacks over the past few weeks claimed the life of my beloved dad. With this great sadness also brought great happiness. Almost a bitter sweet happiness that is, finally my mate and I are one. Not only that but she has assumed her luna duties with out even realizing she has.

Every morning I wake up and thank the Moon goddess for her. Today is the day we announce to the pack the succession of the alpha and luna positions. The detail she and Val put into this amazed me since they only had a few days to put it together. Once the announcements were done I had a few meetings to get ready for my absence tonight. She made a promise to her friends and I knew she'd never go back on her word.

After getting through the meetings I got dressed in one of my nicer outfits and headed to the omega's house. When I finally saw her my heart skipped a beat. She looked like a goddess herself, the way the black dress complimented her darker features made her look like a seductress. I didn't even want to go I just wanted to take her back to the house and show her how exceptionally beautiful she is.

That was a no go though, so instead we took off to go grab the humans and go to Et Lupum. Watching my friends mingle in the same place where I saw my mate for the first time was amazing. Even more amazing was watching her move on the dance floor. The confidence and happiness radiating off of her. She excused herself to use the bathroom but when she didn't return for some time I started to panic.

"Have you seen Dali?" I asked Val and Dustin who shook their heads but fanned out in search. I ran over to Sam and Sara who were making out in the corner.

"Have you seen Dali?" I asked, both of them shook their heads but agreed to help.

I ran upstairs to check the room but only Ash and Mel were up there chatting.

"Have you seen Dali?" I asked the worry clear in my voice. They both jumped up and we all headed down stairs.

"Hey maybe she's with Emma I haven't seen her in a while either." Mel said as she headed towards the bathroom.

"Oh my goodness." I heard a group of girls including Mel say as they looked in on the bathroom. My heart stopped and I ran over to look. The floor of the bathroom was littered with broken glass but luckily no smell of blood came from it.

We all met back at the VIP room after searching the whole building. At this point both Rainer and I knew she was not here. The worst part is I couldn't even feel her. It was almost as if she was no longer here. Rainer was howling in pain thinking the worst.

"I had the staff run back all the cameras. It seems that the cameras were all simultaneously shut down about 5 minutes ago." Val said after linking with the crew.

"So she can still be close." Ash said worried.

"I.. I can't feel her." I said feeling the tears welling up.

"She's still here. Don't you dare say that." Val said on the verge of crying.

"What is even going on here? Where did Daliah go?" Mel said confused, with Sara next to her.

"Ash I'll let you explain that to her." I said flatly. "We're going back home now." I finished scooping up my keys and not bothering to look back. They all followed of course. We all loaded up the car and I sped off towards the territory.

"Um, why would she be in the nature reserve?" Sara said from the back, I ignored them.

"Finn are you sure this is the right way." Ash said nervously, I could understand but I didn't care.

"Your future luna is missing and your worried about how to break the news." I roared at him causing everyone to be silent.

"Yes alpha." he said quietly.

"Alpha?" both of the humans said in unison. With that we were on the dirt path that concealed our lands. Ash explained to them which left both of them dumbfounded even as we entered the town they thought to be a reserve.

"This...This is insane." Mel said looking at everyone in the car half in fear and half in confusion.

"Mel I promise I will protect you no matter what." Ash said to her fiercely, she just shyly nodded.

I was already linked with all of the betas and omegas gearing them up for an emergency meeting. Even though I couldn't feel her I had to know what happened. I will find her, I promise moon goddess I will find her.
