Chapter 23: Dana Explains Stella's Options for Joining the Pack

While the battle raged among the alphas. Stella and Dana continued their picnic on her living room floor.

“If you don’t become tied to the pack in a formal way.” Dana instructed. “Should anything happen to Bennett, you’ll be killed.”

“Aren’t I already at risk of being killed?” Stella asked. Admittedly she was feeling a little tipsy. They were on their second bottle of Pinot Grigio.

“Yes.” Dana conceded. “But as long as Bennett is around, at least for now, he is determined to protect you.”

Stella nodded. Her unruly curls bouncing in every direction. She believed Dana, Bennett’s second in command. The beta to his alpha.

“What could happen to Bennett?” Stella asked. He seemed immortal to her. Shifting shapes, rescuing her at all costs. Protecting her.

“He could die.” Dana said bluntly. It was just the sort of thing that the gorgeous and lanky shifter did that had earned the nickname, Scary Wolf. “Or lose his position as alpha of the pack.”
