12 Chapter 12: Stella Didn't Ask For This

Immediately, Stella jumped to her feet.

It was no time to be sitting around on the job. She needed her wits about her. She needed to get ready to run.

As much as Stella would like to slip into Bennett’s bed and find out if their shared energy really was combustible. To see those rock-hard muscles in the light of day. To feel his embrace, the heat from his body without all that fabric to separate them.

For that, she was ready. Or so she thought she was.

But what he’d said about her becoming his mate. For LIFE??? Talk like that was a total game changer. Stella was not looking to mate with him or anyone else for life.

Even if he was handsome. Wealthy. And built like a bronze statue.
