11 Chapter 11: Accepting Protection

Stella stood outside the door to Bennett Orloff’s house. The werewolf next door. She raised her hand to knock, then stopped.

Her neighbors were going to war. That much was clear.

The rest of it? ….Not so much.

Stella had been listening to them argue over preparations since convincing Dana, the second in command, that she’d talk to Bennett.

Stella still couldn’t believe it. She’d agreed to be under his protection. To be part of his pack.

But only so she wasn’t killed by Scary Wolf, Bennett’s second in command that wanted to take a life, even Stella’s if it came to it. In order to repay the one stolen from her when her brother was killed trying to save Stella.

Yeah. It was complicated.

Not only that. Stella had agreed to some sort of blood tie to Bennett, on account of his having killed the son of his own father’s rival.

Apparently for werewolves, that was a really big deal.
